1. Rango - Really beautiful animation, and pretty funny characters and story.

2. True Grit - A couple really funny lines, but also some awkward and weird ones. A little dissapointing.

3. Black Swan - Quite freaky, but artful and interesting. Good choice for a dark but intriguing movie.

1. White Hunter, Black Heart - Basically a semi-fictionalised account of the filming of the African Queen, with Clint Eastwood as the obnoxious prick of a director. I had a lot of fun watching it :D
2. True Grit - I doubt this needs much of a more description, but I, personally, enjoyed it quite a lot.
3. The King's Speech - It's been a couple of months since I saw this, but I really liked it.

1. Green Hornet: It's not as bad as other people say, pretty funny.

2. Unknown: Not bad but you should see "Taken" if you have a choice.

3. Drive Angry: It takes a certain taste to enjoy it but it's fun. :D

1. The King's Speech. It was incredibly good, but I still think too unimagined to get so many awards.

2. My Name is Khan. Great, but maybe just a bit long.

3. Austin Powers, for New Year's. Hilarious.

The Crazies (1973) - Government accident unleashes contagious bioweapon in small town that makes victims go insane; troops arrive to enforce brutal quarantine while band of survivors searches for escape. Does jack-all with a good premise on the way to a very obvious conclusion; pacing is leaden. Romero is a god, but remake is better so far (I'm halfway through).

Opera - Friends of opera ingenue are killed while she is forced to watch. Not as smart or striking as the other Dario Argento golden age flicks (save for the dreadful Inferno), and the heroine is tryingly stupid (and very obviously not the tour de force performer as which she is hailed). Also, the killer gets totally stomped at one point by a tailor. Still worth seeing if you're into Argento or artistic horror flicks.

Paperhouse - Girl finds drawings coming to life in her dreams - in a puzzling and unsettling manner, with some additional guests she didn't invite. Uniquely unsettling and imaginative, with no pat answers to the central conundrum early on. Also contains some startlingly horrific sequences in the middle (not anything gory, not cheap kids-in-jeopardy stuff - real tense sequences composed of haunting images). Doesn't entirely pull all its little plot threads off, but does right by what matters most, and I was satisfied with Paperhouse in a way I am with few other movies - and that sky is so blue at the end.

Blade Runner- AMAZING JUST AMAZING first time seeing it(Shut up i'm 14!) EVERYONE NEEDS TO
SEE IT.

Star Wars Episode 3. GASP I enjoy the prequels(at least 20 time i've watched it) readys flame sheild.

Most of "I'm Not There" a strange Bob Dylan biopic but it was my first time hearing Bob Dylan save for "Like A Rolling Stone" so it was pretty great.

A Clockwork Orange- Really disturbing but at the same time fantastic. One of the best movies I've ever seen.
Romper Stomper- Little known Australian film about skinheads; it was okay.
The Great Gatsby- We watched it for school, and it was okay, I guess. Really dated, though.

Machete: I really enjoyed it, thought it was a great B movie with ridiculous comedy moments, plenty of blood, hot women and Danny Trejo.

Repo Men: I would have to give it a resounding "Meh". Very few films are really bad in my eyes and I managed to stay entertained through the whole thing but it's not something I'd watch again.

I Love you Phillip Morris: Well acted and quite bittersweet, it was funny enough but in a way I don't know how to articulate which is why I'd fail as a reviewer. It's the type of film I'd have watched 5 years ago and hated but as I've grown older, watched many movies and learned to appreciate different types, it became something I quite enjoyed. Hell, I even found it quite moving at some points and I'm a straight guy. I don't know if that actually means anything but I know plenty of guys who would either outright dislike or not get invested in the characters simply because they were gay.

I'm having a movie night tonight; I've seen three films in the last 7 hours, all three for the first time.

First up was Ladder 49, a sub-par firefighter drama starring John Travolta and Joaquim Phoenix. The ending was surprisingly emotional but it was otherwise competent yet boring.

Next up was Finding Forester, a very good Sean Connery drama from 11 years ago. I skipped it then because I thought it was going to be a paint-by-numbers movie but I should have known better just by looking at the cast; alongside Sean Connery are F. Murray Abraham of Amadeus, Anna Paquin of X2, Michael Pitt of Funny Games U.S., and Busta Rhymes from Eight Legged Freaks. Excellent film, in my top 3 of the year 2000.

Finally, I just watched Animal House. It's a comedy classic starring the late John Belushi among others. It's dated, but good nonetheless. I would have loved it had I had similar experiences in college or if I had watched it when I was younger but I still enjoyed it up until it's too-goofy ending.
