Uploaded this to photobucket. It was for a Latin essay.

It's Nero fiddling while Rome burned.
I seriously hope you know that the fiddle wasn't invented until the 15th century...

And that Nero rushed back to Rome when he heard that it was burning...
Ok, Mr. Smarty Pants. Firstly, it's a joke, secondly, I can't reiterate enough that IT WAS A JOKE. You'll find that they probably didn't have modern clothing or cowboy hats back in Roman times either. Thirdly, the fiddle (as in a bowed string instrument) has been around since 3000 BC. Fourthly, Roman historians actually said that Nero sang and played the lyre as Rome was burning, Tacitus and Dio (Cassius Dio, not Holy Diver Dio) to be specific.
I know that it was a joke, I just never get to use that knowledge. Ever.

From what I know, he was at his seaside resort singing and playing the kithara(similar to a lyre) and as soon as he heard about the fire, he rushed back to Rome to lead the firefighting effort.

I'm curious, what was this essay about?
Nero's Golden Palace! For some reason, every time I right that I feel it should be announced by the guy off the Price is Right...

I also wrote an essay on Emperor Tiberius' Villa Jovis, which, according to Romans of the time, was home to some wild and crazy parties. I also had this picture for that essay.
