Homeworld. A brilliant game with a brilliant backstory. I only know one person IRL who plays it, and the group here is depressingly small.
I share your sorrow. I have met exactly two people who have heard of Dwarf Fortress and neither have played it because of its reputation.GrimSheeper said:There would be Dwarf Fortress that I guess I am not lonely with when it comes to the internet, but in general nobody I talk to even heard of it.
Since I've been in a television dry spell, where there are only a couple current shows that I like, I decided several months ago to watch old shows that I knew about but never really showed much interest in.RaphaelsRedemption said:For me, it's Buffy the Vampire Slayer. No one ever wants to watch with me. And it's so much fun!
Why will no one watch Buffy with me - not even my fiance?!
Yeah, I only know a handful of people who like the genre. It's good though, because you feel an instant connection to the person and have someone else to go to the gigs with.shrekfan246 said:Don't worry, it's not only New Zealand. I've only met one person who shared a liking of post-hardcore music in my state, and no one I've associated with online has seemed to like it either. Predominant music genres around here appear to be rap/hip-hop and then country, followed by alternative rock. And it seems most people I know who don't just like those tend to like classic rock/techno/electronica/whatever they consider to be "real" metal (usually old Metallica, Black Sabbath, Pantera, etc.)subjectseven said:So do I. But it's just not that well known in New Zealand.shrekfan246 said:[Insert random gibberish here showing how exciting it is to see another person who doesn't hate that genre with all of their guts because "It's like, all just noise and screaming!"]subjectseven said:Definitely my music. The Post-Hardcore genre. It's just not that popular at all.
I love that genre.
Though I've met a few people who hate post-hardcore because it's not heavy enough for them (typically fans of death metal and other similar genres). I attempt to just avoid talking about music anymore, because I don't limit myself to any certain genre (the only ones I don't like are country and hip-hop and I don't actively search out rap, jazz, big band, soul, or pop, but I do like them and most any other genre) but for some reason so many people seem to think that you can't possibly like Eminem and Asking Alexandria and Between the Buried and Me and Blink-182.
Hell yeah! Although 3 of my friends all love Alestorm and all found it independently which was a tad strange. Still amused they covered You Are A Pirate.Altorin said:Alestorm
Me too, several of my nerd friends whom I say "READ THIS IT'S SO FANTASTIC AAAAAAAH" all report the same thing: They stop reading around the slow beginning, when John's just mucking around with cakes and sylladexes. No matter how many times I shout "Read until the meteors, read until the meteors, read until the meteors", they just stop right around there and don't continue reading.Sariteiya said:For me it's Homestuck. My boyfriend is a huge nerd, and we have lots of fandoms in common, (Adventure Time, Mass Effect etc,) but sadly he can't bring himself to make the time and energy investment that Homestuck requires. Many of my other friends won't even give it a chance after I attempt to explain it's plot and format. As a result, no one gets my references, and I have no one to discuss plot twists with.
