As much as I'm inclined to join the OP in saying Homestuck, it honestly doesn't particularly bother me that my friends will not give it a chance.

What bothers me more is that I am, apparently, the only person in Sweden who loves the horror genre in all its shapes and forms. Gamer friends don't play horror games. Bookworm friends can't stand horror and are busy re-reading Harry Potter for the billionth time. Movie buff friends hate horror movies on principle. TV obsessed sister wouldn't spare a horror series a second glance.

All with the reason of "it's horror, it can't be good".

Oh... oh god... the stupid. The stupid hurts so much.

I seem to be the only person in the north-east of england(population 7 and falling) who liked Spyro more than Crash.

OT:I loved them both as they were an integral part of my child childhood and realy boiled down to what was cooler: an orange bandicoot in blue trousers and typical 90s shoes or a whiny purple dragon who wopuld be voiced by Elijah Wood.

Neverwinter Nights, none of my friends like it, mainly because most of them don't like western RPGs, I've tried to have my boyfriend play it but he is the kind that just can't play older games.

Screw them! the first game and the expansions were great!

I'd actually been reading MSPA since the introduction of the "Dames" in Problem Sleuth. When Homestuck started, I did follow it for quite a while. Wasn't too fond of it, but I was sure the payoff was going to be good like PS.

But then I had to move houses, lost my internet access for roughly a month. I took one look at the archive and said, fuck it, there's no way in hell I'm going to have the patience for that again.




Anyway, I'm a really huge fan of Dinosaur comics (aka qwantz). People think I'm weird for being fascinated by the daily discussions of a tyrannosaurus and a utahraptor, but I think there's a lot of depth, intelligence and complexity to be found in the arguments they have repeatedly within the same six panels of artwork that have been recycled for several years.

I didn't really get into Homestuck until Act 5. Making people read parts from later on when interesting stuff starts happening seems to work to get them to wade through the early stuff. I started at Equius: Seek the highb100d and went through a few other bits before I became interested in what was going on and decided to start from the beginning.

Back on topic, Zork and WoW. Nobody plays Zork any more. People want graphics now. As if drawing your own map doesn't count.

I've never heard of GrimSheeper, but I LOVE KMFDM, if it makes you feel any better.
I think that if their song 'Brute' was played on those planetary speakers from the Hitchhikers Guide series it STILL wouldn't be loud enough.
The song 'Power' always makes me visualize people vigorously exercising in Hell.

Majesty is awesome. I still have some of the heroes last words rattling around in my head.

Or my favorite, "At Last..." My favorite class too. Because you could hypnotze vampires, and vampires were reealy powerful. And yes, I did hear the voices of the characters while reading that. I've had the thing since I was in like 4th grade.

Many of my other friends won't even give it a chance after I attempt to explain it's plot and format. As a result, no one gets my references, and I have no one to discuss plot twists with.

I know! It's so good! My friend won't try it either, and it makes me so sad. Really, if you can get to this, you get hooked.

For me, my only lonely fandom is Yu-Gi-Oh. Nobody else understands why I enjoy it, but I really do. The cartoon show is awesome and the real card game is damn entertaining. If only I had people to play it with, but I haven't played against anyone since I was in school.

No one I know is a fan, or has even watched any Super Sentai. In fact they do mock me a bit for enjoying it (which is ironic coming from My Little Pony Fans).

My boyfriend is a huge nerd, and we have lots of fandoms in common, (Adventure Time, Mass Effect etc,) but sadly he can't bring himself to make the time and energy investment that Homestuck requires. Me too, several of my nerd friends whom I say "READ THIS IT'S SO FANTASTIC AAAAAAAH" all report the same thing: They stop reading around the slow beginning, when John's just mucking around with cakes and sylladexes. No matter how many times I shout "Read until the meteors, read until the meteors, read until the meteors", they just stop right around there and don't continue reading.

However, one pal of mine said he read Problem Sleuth and loved it.

Same for me - Homestuck. Pretty much everybody I interact with on the internet adores Homestuck, but unfortunately, most of my non-internet friends are either in the "not interested" or "gave up halfway through Act 1" category.

As a result, I too must watch as the references I pepper into every single conversation I'm involved in are lost upon everyone.
