It's a game.

You don't think all games need to be realistic, do you?

You don't take games as real, do you?

You don't really think a plumber was walking around slaughtering turles, do you?

Another person we need to hide the sharp things from.

I will admit though, givem everything else that is out in Burning Sands, the first thought that crossed my mind was... "what is a theme park doing out here?!?¨ The thought quickly passed, and dismissed as creative license one sometimes has to give to art. Champions has some unforgivable faults... this is a forgiveable one.

Huh, I didn't know you could play a Civet cat [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_Palm_Civet] in WoW... ;D

I tried the Trial of it, and honestly, I see nothing from. It's silly, it's zaney, and it's very reminiscent of 80% of the comic books out there.

I guess most gamers can't go about an MMO without being told they are the epic srs hero of the land 80 times while ignoring the fact there are 1 million + other heroes of the same land killing the same main bad dude over and over again.
There is no, and has never been, a Champions Online trial...

I have a couple friends who play Champions, and though I haven't played it myself, talking to them and hearing them as they play, I gather the biggest issue is their xp curve and pacing.

But the quests and items are nearly all puns to some degree, with no more complication or involvement than WoWs quests. Its Fedex quests and slay 10 arms dealers, and lots of 'find the serum and deliver it to doctor queazy.'

It seems to be the cookiecutter MMO setup now, just add your own theme and little gimmick, then call it a game...

Star Wars MMO will have voice entirely voice acted interactions and should have meaningful story lines.

Hopefully that doesn't turn into a joke.
it won't be so long as lucas has as little input as possible :D
you understand that lack of any imput from lucas simply means the game will never actually reach print, and that the game wont even sell, games baseline now at $60, SW:toR will go for over $120

small price to pay so it will be free from such dialogue like "Sand is coarse, your skin is soft DURR HURR" passing for romance!

You need more friends who have lifetime subscriptions before you can make this statement.

Apparently they've decided to make the game free-to-play starting early next year. It'll be great to access the character creator for free, but as someone that played quite a bit of the game, I can't suggest it to anyone beyond the character creation stage. It's really as if the folks at Cryptic have no idea how to make a fun MMO, and have gone out of their way to make the game as unenjoyable as possible. Even the few things that are well implemented are undermined by glaring, obvious problems.

We also need to have a serious talk with whoever it is that has the giant statue fetish.

An old thread but whatever.
After reading the lets play for champions online i have to agree that this game looks completely ridiculous. This is a shame because i was looking at it at one point because i wanted a new MMO and was getting tired of WoW. It looked like it had interesting combat, but i put off trying it cause there was no free demo. After reading the lets play i was pretty turned off of it.

Let me put it this way, I would click through quests when i was too bored to read them and just wanted to get to the next level, but if i was in a good mood i would usually read the quest. Unfortunately, reading the quest would reward me with nonsense just as often as with good story. When i got a nonsense quest it REALLY discouraged me to invest myself in the world. I'm Ivanwatchenu! (yes, i am guilty of pun names as well). Deadly assassin of the Hord! (and yet i still want to be a part of the world even with my pun name). If I have to distance myself from the world because you're making me escort someone who apparently has a death wish (there are better examples than this but i can't think of any atm) then i feel like playing the game that much less. Honestly i couldn't keep away from wow for a while cause i was so attached to Ivan. Making a connection between the player and their character can be a very powerful tool for keeping the player invested in the game. But the idea that i CAN'T have that connection with my hero in champions online because the world isn't worth being a part of... that removed a lot of incentive for me to even get involved in your world.
