Your mom last night...

So last night seemed to be a weird night for my mom. she was saying weird things... i'm 19 and in college living with my parents... and she actually asked me if it was safe to be talking to adults in other countries.

So my question is... did you mom act this way last night? was it a full moon?

Has your mom actually talked to you about internet predators? Had any weird safety conversations with your mom?

No my mother can barely work the internet let alone talk about it. And my dad is a computer genius and he still knows that I can take care of myself on the internet.

And other weird conversations other then about sex I can think of none.

Hey now, Escapisms have all involved going out into sunlight. Not that that's much of a vampirism deterrent considering some of the people but hey!

My mother's given me The Intarwebz People Talk before. Several times. It's a pain but I understand her concern considering the amount of frightened propaganda that's spread around. Some of it comes from people's experiences with rather bad cons, other from good old fashioned Human paranoia. What it comes down to in the end is careful planning and a willingness to do metaphorical tight-robe walks from time to time.

I've had some odd talks with my mother about the interwebs...they weren't pleasant...nothing that woman says ever makes feel good. I think the worst was when she insulted my modding skills...I want a banhammer IRL...use it on her.

The most awkward thing that happened to me and my mom was when my brother moved out and I inherited his TV. One of my tapes went missing and I thought that it might be in his TV, now mine. We had just moved the TV into my room and my mom was doing something on my computer (I was about 12 at the time and didn't know much about computer at the time). So I hit the play button on the TV and a porno comes on. It was the most awkward thing that happened between us.
