Your most disappointing film.

Simple question.

What film were you most disappointed by? I'm not speaking of the worst film, but one that left you feeling cheated. You watched all of the trailers, followed all of the build up closely and you were shaking with anticipation when you walked into the cinema.

But then you walk out feeling cold .

While I cannot think of one off the top of my head, I have a strange feeling that The Dark Knight Rises will ultimately disappoint. While I continue to be extremely excited for what I will witness in a few days, I keep having that thought that the film will not live up to not only my expectations, but also the expectations of all of us who loved Batman Begins and were absolutely enthralled by The Dark Knight . I hope that these evil thoughts will be proven wrong, and all I can do now is wait and hope for the best.

So Escapists, what film were you most disappointed you?

2 films both equally disappointed me recently.

Hannah and Blitz.

Hanna looked great in the trailers but the film itself was a bit of a let down. A whole story arc that kind of vanished 3 quarters of the way through and fizzled to nothing.

Blitz, i'm a big fan of Jason Statham but that film could have been an hour shorter. Far too much pointless shit. The scenes with the female cop could have been cut out, she played zero part in the over all plot and she was irritating to boot.

Lately prometheus, the trailers made it look creepy and weird but it was really straight forward which was probably its flaw besides a well....a few character flaws and not giving more focus on the two actual threats in that movie(big white guy and giant octofacehugger

Ps-how dare you question batman, batman loves you, you make batman sad face.

Likely "Wild Zero", this Japanese horror/comedy from 2000 or 2001.
Years ago I chanced upon a Japanese action/horror/scifi mash-up called "Versus" that absolutely blew my mind. I summarily exposed all my friends to it and it's since become a cult flick for us. A fellow working at the videostore I was renting from at the time (Where I now work) recommended "Wild Zero" to me, on the grounds that it was a similar film.
So, I researched it and my appetite was whetted. A zombie rockabilly epic? Where aliens are responsible for the living dead? I was sold. However, the movie was a royal pain to find. I don't generally download films (and back then I didn't have my own computer) so I never took that avenue. For half a decade I looked for it on and off, once finding it in a store only to be turned off by the price-tag (39.99$? Pshaw).

Then, earlier this year, I found it. I just so happened to be walking by a repertory videostore that was closing down about three or four months ago. I wandered inside and there it was, previously-viewed for 7$ flat. I bought it without a second thought, went home and popped it into my player.
It was an hour and forty minutes of tedious jokes, sloppy CGI head-explosions and headache-inducing direction.
Needless to say, I was heart-broken.

For me it's a toss up between Pearl Harbor and Tropic Thunder. Pearl because there had been a bit of a drought of ww2 movies at the time, if I remember right, and I thought we'd at least get more dogfight action than Tora Tora Tora had.

Tropic Thunder came along and failed utterly as a comedy, AND as an action film. Thank god Pineapple Express came soon after and satisfied both of those itches...

The last airbender.

Obsessed over the show.
Was almost orgasmic over the movie previews.
Wanted to be in tears walking out of the movie.

I had pretty limited experience with Bay at the time- I mostly knew him from The Rock, which was a genuinely solid action film, and I'd still say easily his best film by far. Also, I saw the trailer, and that one shot where the camera follows that bomb all the way down to the battleship's deck? I'm ashamed to say I saw that and was sold instantly, thinking the camera work would be all kinds of amazing.

Even by Bay's standards though, PH was especially awful.

Only one movie may take that cake, the Godfather. Yeah, it was not as good as you guys said it was... full of cliches and totally boring. Also it was very long, which added to my disappointment.

For me that was probably Brave.

It wasn't a bad movie per say, but the trailers really hyped it up for me. So I expected a bit more from it.

The Darkest Hour

You could say the length of time I watched it before removing it from my blu-ray player and pretending it didn't exist until I got back to the movie rental store was my "darkest hour".

Avatar. After all the hype it was just Dances with wolfs with blue people. Not to say the whole thing is bad but it's disappointing.

My dad spent ages trying to get me to watch Highlander when I was younger. It's so great! he said. Practically a classic! he said.

It was not all I was promised, despite the kick-ass Queen soundtrack.
