Your most hated anime cliche

When the main dude delivers the final blow to the bad guy and then the bad guy decides to have a monologue/soliloquy while he's dematerializing or something. I think Kingdom Hearts started that crap.

Basically I hate the entire Shakespeare copycat stuff that they INSIST on putting in. No new homegrown ideas just copy Shakespeare, it doesn't have to make sense or fit into the overall story, just copy Shakespeare. Squeenix did it, so we must do it too.

And that leads to my biggest peave. PLOT HOLES. I just don't get it. Maybe, it's how we're raised but I expect a story to make sense from beginning to end. Japan, it COULD make sense but I really want to put in this flying dog.

My second biggest peave is taking simple ideas and making it overly complex. Like, Sephiroth. Sephiroth is a genetic clone of his 'Mommy' created by jerkoff scientist. He's angry because his life is a lie. Two sentences and I explained his entire character. But the games go about this round about way explaining it. And you're left scratching your head over something that not obtuse at all. It's really rather shallow.

My third biggest peave is the 'That's just weird moment'. Again, Sephiroth. They could have just said they found some of his mommy's rare tissue and cloned him from that, easy peasy. But noooooooooooooooooooooo, in Crisis Core you find out that they found her HOT corpse and hooked a tube to her uterus to get the cells and still have her hot corpse to this day. And this is a Japanese game so you know they were banging that corpse.

And fourth biggest peave. They just don't explain everything. They never explained why Sephiroth's hot mom came to earth in the first place and started killing everybody. And I don't want them to explain that cuz it's gonna be stupid and horrible and I'm gonna get angry and say bad things like '2 bombs wasn't enough.'

i can stend EVERYTHING else except the part where the protagonist gets yelled at for being a "pervert" even though it was just a coincidental situation and then all the girls scream "pervert" and go out to kill him without even giving him proper time to explain his situation (there was ONE time in ONE anime where he was given the benefit of the doubt, and i literally cried tears of joy)

In all fairness, you probably never read any of the major DC or Marvel comics, did you?

And THERES an interesting point. For example, how many good heroes have come back? multiplying it by fifty is about how many times a baddie comes back. Even take Dr.Doom. THAT MOFO DONT STAY DEAD OR TRAPPED OR LOST! Onslaught is a PERFECT example of goodies coming back. Its all awesome, but is repetitive. Thats why civil war, secret invasion, dark reign and so on are so....different. Its because people are realizing so much similarity.

I can even understand it in SOME harem anime. Look at Tenchi Muyo, I mean the princess wanted to marry him and I would have run too, but Ryoko just wanted him to fuck her brains out. I don't care if she is hundreds of years old and a space pirate, she's a fucking fox!

oh god dont remind of that.tenchi muyo was legendary but the main protagonist made me mad as hell.here was a extremely kid nerdy kid with 4 extremely hot girls in one house(washu adult form,mihoshi,ryoko,and kiyone .dont consider ayeka hot and sasamis way too young) and he never even touch one.even though washu and ryoko throw themself's at him he freak out like a little pussy.it was such a obnoxious cliche in the show

That's the difference between Japan and America:
In japan-one teenager surrounded with several hot chicks= PG-13comedy
In America-one teenager surrounded by several hot chicks=porno

This is why I want to see more American Anime-like Avatar: The Last Airbender. It had great animation, tremendous style, American sensibilities, cool action, and it was funny. Plus the plot actually made sense. I wonder what an American version of Dragon Ball Z would be like. It would pretty much be exactly the same, except fights would last one episode and there would be blood, tits, and cussing everywhere. Freiza: Prepare to die Sayian scum! In ensemble anime, as time goes on, most of the cast is eventually relegated to the sidelines as the main character becomes leaps-and-bounds more skilled than everyone else. I get that it's important to focus on the main character of the show now and then, but come on... It can't always come down to Main Dude versus Bad Dude while Injured Friends watch, can it?

Also, the "tournament arc". It's the hallmark of most action-y anime shows, and though it's entirely possible to handle it well, it usually isn't. More often than not, it smacks of giving giving the show an excuse to grind to a halt while it slogs through fight after fight after fight, sans any character development whatsoever. That is, until the first cliche I mentioned comes into effect and the main character's chance to fight arises.

Incidentally, one of my favorites is guilty of this. The problems don't really start to set in until later, but when they do, boy howdy, it hurts. I think we all know what show I'm referring to.

Remember when Master Roshi used to be able to kick Goku's tail around the block and secondary characters actually had a significant effect on the overall plot? Yeah, me neither.​

Sadly i have to agree with you even though i love dragon ball the most. Its much better than z and gt which have so much crap that makes no bloody sense. Sadly i just finished purchasing the entire dragon ball series.

Other than a lot of things mentioned most that i have read are minor problems that either don't bother me much or i like. I like Ed's reactions to being called short...

The greatest sins for anime are not knowing when to fricken end it. Im looking right at you bleach and naruto for most current sinners i've watched/read.

The obsession with giving massive breasts to every female character bar the one you're supposed to take seriously (eg. Rukia). The breast obsession ruined a perfectly good series in High School of the Dead by making it all seem a bit... well pervy tbh which was a shame because I actually liked a few of the characters.

Also, the posing. Just the sheer amount of posing in every anime pisses me off. Especially the whole "we all look of into the sky and hope for a brighter tomorrow" bullshit after every new bad guy is defeated.

I HATE it when they introduce a female character as badass/strong/independent, then as soon as she's in an actual fight, she can't do shit, or she has to constantly be saved by the male character, even if the male character is a giant puss. Or they outright say that she isn't actually strong because she's a girl.

EDIT: Also, the nasty incestuous bullshit that seems to be popular over there. I watched Vampire Knight and wanted to take a shower in molecular acid just to feel clean again.

Also, most fanservice in a cerebral anime. It implies the writers don't think we have an attention span long enough for us to keep watching the show without the promise of titties every other minute.

I find that I can't watch an anime that has titties every other second, no matter how good the story is. It's kind of like they're shooting themselves in the foot.
