Thank you. I've been trying to tell some of my anime-head friends that (of course, non-anime acclimitized people are worse, but with them I don't even bother) but I haven't found anyone who agrees with me.

OT: I've said my piece. I'm allowed to thank an intelligent person!
My pleasure. I actually stumbled across that video on this very site, but I forgot to bookmark it last time.

[sub]eee! I was called intelligent :D[/sub]

After you've watched 200+ episodes of something, and the last episode doesn't settle the loose ends and is very ambiguous and doesn't provide some sort of proper ending. Presumably so you go read 15 volumes of the manga to figure out what the heck happens.

Fanservice, god how I detest fan service. I try to get into Gurren Lagann, but almost ever scene with Yoko so far is cheecake. I watch Evangelion and I have to feel like a pervert cause those girls are 14. And I find the holy grail that is Cowboy Bebop, but even it makes scenes with Fae hard to watch because her outfit conforms to her body.

It's just I'm focused on the characters/action/story and then boobs get shoved in my face. So far he only anime I've seen that hasn't been blatant about it is Trigun, and most of Gundam.

It annoys me when there is a villain who, upon first appearence, beats the shit out of the main cast and is only defeated by a major fluke. Then they reappear and are defeated with a lot less effort and the next time they are beaten by the main heroes sneezing.
Eventually this leads to the enemy joining the good guys, for some reason or other.

I don't hate this but it does annoy me.
Viral?! Is that you?

I like some animes, but there are what truly drive me insane-

1) epic fireballs, lightning, and other ridiculous powers/abilities being the crutch of almost ALL Shonen Jump shows. These shows have their origin in DBZ, which brings me to point 2.

2)ALL fighting animes are practically the same! Don't try to get technical with me about this, telling me there are "MASSIVE" difference between shows like Bleach, Naruto, and DBZ.Why are they the same? Because they all have the same character archetype amd plot resolutions.

+the loud mouthed, anoying character who becomes the hero with the help of his cliche' friends
+the doushbag rival who eventually becomes his friend (or dies before such a resolution clearly occurs)
+The main theme of the show is "friendship can conquer anything!"
+ As mentioned there's some sort of superhuman/magic power at work that looks absolutely ridiculous,Nautro and Bleach being the biggest offenders (making superheros look more realistic and relatable).

3) This is the biggest annoyance of them all- A whole show being dedicated ENTIRELY to characters talking amongst themselves and going on internalized monologue journeys as events unfold before them. As a reader I can tolerate story development and character's thoughts/dialogue.But anime has a terrible habit of dragging out dramatic monologues, explainations, characters thinking out loud, and of coure exaggerated reactions to situations (over-the-top anime reactions). I'm told this is so that the anime and the manga can advance at a similar pace or whatever, but I have a hard time believing that with most of these shows.

4)Bathouse episodes revolving around naked women and the guys trying to sneak a peak.

5) The perverted/socially inept achetype present in every show just to be everyone's punching bag, it's getting old.

The pointless Mexican standoff. Especially when it goes on for longer than 30 seconds.
As much as I?m on the side lines with anime, there is one without question I love and that is Cowboy Bebop. I don't usually engage in this kind of fanboy reflex and let people be entitled to their points of view and generally get on with my live BUT THIS CANNOT GO UNCONTESTED. You ma'am can go nail your taste in animation to you side of a freight train because cowboy bebop is the best animated series to come out of Japan and to use its image to enforce a negative opinion is a sin against all things holy, just and not made by committee.
Don?t take any of this to heart, I just really like Cowboy Bebop

Although I must say I do have a burning hatred of child/teenage protagonists with gold like powers or being in charge of nuke launching military hardware instead of season soldiers with skill, experience and minds that have coped with the stress of battle.
Have to agree with he stand off, but, like this guy said, could of picked a picture of a series it "didn't" work for in.

The type of anime that just keeps going and going and going and going and going and going...

Thats about it though. Oh, and fan-service, and the over-the-top expressions.

The artificial lengthening of series with episodes that have no points. there has to be at least 3 seasons worth of dragon ball of topless muscle men screaming at eachother waiting to throw an energy ball that will be unaffected on the new most powerful being in the universe #837
Fillers? Yeah, I hate them too.

The over the top "cute character" that serves nothing other than annoy everyone for no reason, but somehow proves it's worth in one episode then resumes being annoying and worthless for the rest of the series.

This.
If High School of the Dead was fan-service free it would be so much better.

And speaking on High Schools, just look at them: So...perfect.Everything works, everyone is rich, with uniforms and extra-curricular activities.

*looks at national show with an high school as the setting*

Wait a second... It's not only on japan.It's every-freakin-where!

Sneezing when somebody talks behind your back.
Pulling a giant hammer out of the nether behind you.
Bath houses
Calling out the name of the attack as you do it.
Immense indestructible fortresses that have a self destruct tied to the main bad guy dying.
Fanservice
Big eyes
Main characters who are oblivious to the feelings of the girls around them
Females who like pretty boys that are obviously not interested in the opposite sex (looking at you sasuke!)
Men that look like women
women that pretend to be men that look like women
eating five times your body weight in every meal
pirates vs ninjas
schoolkids
giant robots
five member teams in chromatic colors
magical school girls
big ass swords

meh, I don't actually hate any of these.

After reading much of these, I've concluded MANY of you don't like anime. Some of you seem to be rallying against the very things that make anime, anime. Such as facial expressions that are really stylized. Some things are understandable, but things like the facial thing are not.

Oh also bullshit power levels the worst offender of this being Bleach, within a few months Ichigo went from normal kid, to shinigami, to vice-captain level shinigami, to captain-level shinigami to Vizard to stronger Vizard to WTFPWNTLEVEL9000 Hollow to God-mode.
This, a thousand times this. That is just really annoying, especially, as you said, in Bleach.

The angst of any serious character, or the inability to grasp the gravity of a situation in a happy character. Ultra-pessimists and ultra-optimists are about all I've ever seen in most anime.

Ironic considering your avatar is from Gurren Laggen.
THAT'S NOT HOW MINDMILLS WORK! I mean, that's not what irony means. It means using the words with different meaning than literal.

Also, Gurren Lagann (..spelling, man) goes over the top the right way.
Well, irony isn't that strictly defined actually. As opposed to sarcasm; which would be what you described. I agree that it is ironic that you complain about Gurren Lagann while having a Gurren Lagann avatar.

If Bender can't explain it, nobody can.

Also, I didn't complain about Gurren Lagann. Especially since whenever they meet a tough opponent, they burst right through him the next episode. Which makes sense, since Gurren Lagann is powered by the controlling pilots' fighting spirits and willpower (Spiral Power, the power of evolution, to be exact).

Fillers. Oh the many filler episodes they make just pisses me off to know end.The one on Bleach that I believe is still going on has lasted long enough to get its own season it's so long.

I still hold that if you were complaining about Gurren Lagann, having a picture from Gurren Lagann as your avatar would be ironic. Let's say it's because your complaining implies that you do not like Gurren Lagann, while your avatar implies you does.

Besides, you can't simply define irony by a dictionary entry, there are even several different kinds, and none of them are very clearly defined. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irony
