I agree, I like the idea that a protagonist has to struggle to earn the title of "Hero" and that they choose to take action instead of having it thrown into their lapPapadam said:Hate: The choosen one... I hate any fantasy where the main character is somehow born to be the hero and save everything. Its been used sooo many times. And there is always a stupid prophecy.
I think this is actually deconstructed really well in dragon age with the grey Wardens, oh so you want to be the hero and save the world? ok then join the grey wardens! first though you have to drink darkspawn blood and theres like a 50% chance youll die, ok then surved that. now you have the taint! that means you can sense darkspawn! awsome right? oh yes there is the bad dreams but theyll go away
oh ummm we forgot to tell you , you only have about 30 years to live then that taint will start to take over and turn you into somthing horrible...most wardens just go off and fight darkspawn untill they die, but thats only if you dont slay the archdeamon, if you are the one to do it then your soul will be destroyed and you will die, Being the chosen hero is awosme right?
