Recently, I watched videos of the NBA Jam update game for the Wii and remembered how much I loved playing the original arcade game when I was younger. So I began thinking of games that have made me nostalgic and, other than NBA Jam and the original Sonic the Hedgehog (I don't remember where I first played it), nothing much came to my mind.

This is probably because I didn't play games in that time period of classic games such as the original Mario games (my first ever Mario game was Super Mario World, which is my favorite today).

So I'm asking you: what games make you nostalgic, and do they make you nostalgic just because they were a part of your past or because they were really good?

For myself, I actually really like the gameplay of all three of the above games I mentioned, but games can be nostalgic for different reasons for different people.

Final Fantasy X makes me feel great. It isn't even really the game, it's the memories of the time I first played through it.

Pokemon Red/Blue always make me feel really good when I load them up.

I installed Homeworld onto my PC the other day. The campaign was just as difficult as I remember it. Although still beautifully rendered considering the age of the game engine.

Does the original KoTR count? Because I bought it off Steam the other day, I have it on my Xbox although it packed in a few months ago so I'm reliving another campaign. :p

Pokemon Red and Blue are at the top of my nostalgia list. Pokemon Blue was not only the first game that I had played, but it was one of the best games I have ever played. I will compare it to the newer versions, good and bad.

Severance: Blade of Darkness. It's more because of the memory on the time and with whom) I played it then the game itself. That being said the game itself was awesome. I recently replayed it and it still holds up good enough, considering it's 10 years old.

Pokemon Crystal and Dragon Warrior Monsters 2: Tara's Adventure.

Both on the GBC, and both awesome.

I also remember Super Mario 64 and a few other N64 games being rather awesome.

Pokémon Blue is a definite. I remember the day I got a brand new boxed copy of that. I was hooked the moment I started playing it. I wish I never sold it.

Sonic Compilation on SEGA Mega Drive as well. 3 games in 1 cartridge, I was amazed!

Ristar on MEGA Drive as well. Such a great game.

Hmm, lets see.

Sid Meier's Gettysburg
Theme Hospital
Red Alert 1 + 2
Command and Conquer 1

Red Alert 1 + 2 and C&C 1 all still work beautifully today and take me back to a time when RTS's were good and Westwood still existed (not tainted and destroyed by EA *sob*)

Sid Meier's Gettysburg and Theme Hospital are just down right fun games, two of the first games I ever owned in fact. It's just such a shame that problems with screen resolution makes them close to unplayable now-a-days (not that I don't try)

If I still had an N64, I would JUMP at the chance to play so many of my old favorites like Super Mario 64, Perfect Dark, Conkers Bad Furday...but I don't have an N64, so that's a whacking great spanner thrown into that piece of nostalgia.
