Spore has recently been the definition for this. I've somehow gotten addicted to terraforming planets in this game. It's extremely repetitive, but it's the thought of expanding my empire by taking an unihabitable slab of rock and then turning it into an oasis for life... Kinda relaxes me somehow.

Pokemon Stadium with the sushi eating game. I still miss that game for that part. The Magicarp one was particularly cruel and yet fun as was the Rattata game but the Lickitongue sushi game made the whole thing worthwhile. The minigames were actually challenging and it was great to play at parties. I keep hoping for a re-release of that one.

I used to play the two Tony Hawk's Underground games like no tomorrow, mainly just to make skaters that looked like people I knew or game characters.

Also, zero-gravity skating and jumping outside map boundary lines was hella fun.

Wiiplay, just that tank game makes it worth it
QFT.

My game would have to be Dragonball Z budokai. I would start a battle just to use my Super kamehammaha and piccolo's special beam cannon. It was just too cool.

Battlefront 2, playing as a Jedi is just too much fun.
Exactly my case. That game is a solid shooter, but the Jedi/hero characters always make me come back for more. Similarly, Timesplitters always has me coming back just to play as a ninja monkey with a huge gun shooting a school of fish.

Sonic Adventure 2 was pretty mediocre. I mean I loved it, but I can recognize a shit game for a shit game when I fall through the ground inexplicably. However I spent hours upon hours raising those little chao fucks...
Oddly enough, a friend of mine loved "those little chao fucks" too. We used to argue how exactly you pronounced chao...
Kay-oh (kā`ō)

As in Chaos when used in English.

Cha-ow

Like "Chow" when used in Chinese.

I think I put several weeks of playing time into James Bond 007: Nightfire. The thing is, it was actually a fantastic game in all respects. Solid storyline, good graphics, great voice acting, stand-up gameplay. But it was the multiplayer with bots that I put my life into. I LOVED that game.

I LOVED THAT SUSHI-GO-ROUND!! That was the best mini-game I ever played. I'm ashamed to admit I had completely forgotten about it until you mentioned it. I only ever played it for about a year around 2002/2003, but that mini-game was so fun...

Edit: Lol, I just remembered the "YOOOOOOOO" that begins each round....

I am not a big fan of racing games and Burnout 2 was not a particularly good racing game (though not a bad one either admittedly). But the multiplayer crash mode that allowed 2-4 players to try and cause the biggest accident possible kept my friends and me playing for several months because of how fun it was.
^^^ Concur. Burnout has always been a fun series for one reason, the crashes. Watching my car flip end over end showering nearby cars with smaller pieces of MY car and then roll into a gas tanker and be launched into the sky box by a huge is explosion is to coin a phrase "Totally fucking sweet"

Spore cell stage is the epitome of this topic. I loved that section of the game so much but hated the rest. The Sims was boring but I just loved to build things in it. Oh and those bonus levels in Mario Sunshine count too, I'd just do those over and over.
I must admit, I've yet to play a full game of the sims, and I just cheat and build stuff.
but my good friend, did you not know? that IS the sims game. it is just a glorified dicking around simulator. you never accomplish anything except dragging out your sims' virtual life

When in doubt, I put in Prototype, steal the thermobaric tank, roll to Battery Park (which in the game is Marine HQ) and blow them (and their strike teams) up until I run out of ammo. Then I ditch the tank in the water, jump out disguised, and laugh at the Marines' complete obliviousness.

"Okay, so there was this guy in a super death- tank, and he killed 500 guys and shot down 30 helicopters. Then the tank rolled off into the ocean and a guy jumped out. Where could our bad guy be?"

Mercenaries (the original) with unlimited ammo, money, and health. So much pure fun in pissing off every faction (except for the russians, gotta keep 'em around for Merchant of Death) and going on a rampage. It endlessly annoys me that this isn't backwards compatible with the 360.
