Same here. I also find it to be quite disturbing when the conversion is convincing and the person does not identify them selves as being male.

I would *NEVER* cross dress. Doing so might turn me into a raging homosexual! However, that said, I am completely secure in my heterosexuality. Which is why I do not cross dress. Because wearing clothes meant for a different gender might alter your genetic make up and psychological disposition. Everybody knows that!
Sarcasm? I've met people who express confidence in their heterosexuality by crossdressing.

What about when heterosexual men cross dress?
why would any heterosexual man crossdress? besides halloween?
Why do you think gay people sometimes cross-dress?
As an expression of their unconventional gender is my first guess. My second guess is because, like everyone else, they realize freedom of speech exists.
OK, I am asking him as a response to what he'd asked, so I don't know if you've gotten the wrong impression. And they don't have an unconventional gender, they're still men. They just like dressing up in women's clothes.

I won't lie, I think it's weird and a little creepy. I wouldn't do anything to stop them like protesting or all that douchebaggery you see on TV, but I'm not going to lie either

It doesn't seem that cross-dressing exists for women. However, it definitely still exists for men. How socially acceptable it is varies dramatically depending on location (and I'm talking to the extent of location within a city, for example, not country-to-country).

If someone doesn't like it, then it is their own problem. I don't see anything wrong with it. Otherwise I wouldn't do it myself, and I fully identify myself as a male - the hairiness and beard tend to give that away anyway - and although I am bi, I am currently in a stable heterosexual relationship. That combo confuses the hell out of people :D

and why exactly is that? it's not interesting if you don't elaborate.
It is being untruthful in a very severe way. When someone looks like a woman you expect them to be one. So a man who tricks another into thinking that they are a woman will permanently change the way the victim views other people.
This has not happened to me, but a buddy of mine had a few to many and was freaked out to find the girl he took home was not female. (thought the person had plastic surgery to make themselves look more convincing.)

I crossdress all the time. I absolutely hate it. I have to when dad comes home, because he doesn't know I'm a transgirl >.<
I just wish I could be out, and happy and stop crossdressing.

I am totally pro crossdressing. Mainly because I think it's hot. Guys in dresses (with necessary facial and body hair removal) and women in tuxedos both make me happy in "los pantalones". And even if the persons not attractive, I'm all for it. At least it's more interesting than everybody wearing the same old thing.

A huge portion of cross dressers are straight.

Of course, not. I am never sarcastic. Because we are on the internet. It is serious.

I often ask myself "Is it socially acceptable for a man to wear a dress?" and every time the answer is "No", I know that gender equality does not yet exist in my country and that there's still work to do.

you do realize most women make damn convincing men right? then the part with your friend, he was drunk it's his own fault (for all you know she told him but he was too wasted to understand) and as for the "girl" how do you know it wasn't a transgirl, rather than a cross dresser, there is a massive difference.

since I'm not exactly very knowledgeable on the subject I'll defer to Tabs to cover the whole difference between cross dressing and being trans. (take it away girl)

They are both different spectrums of transgenderism.
More often than not crossdressers (transvestites) are perfectly heteorosexual cisgendered males that have a penchant for expressing their feminine side through wearing clothes of the opposite gender despite being completely confident in their sexuality.
They are more often straight than gay.

Transsexuals are people who are physically born as either male or female.
The brain however develops along the path of the opposite gender, which causes this massive rift between body and mind. Oftentimes people take their own life because they can't deal with it. It's no laughing matter and transitoning still conitunes to be treated by medical professions as "elective surgery" rather than life-saving, which it really is.

In the case of myself and I really resent being called "a man who tricks another into thinking that they are a woman".
Girls like myself are developmentally women (no matter what you think).
We received the female hormones to the brain but the male hormones to the body. Need proof we are more female than male? http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn20032-transsexual-differences-caught-on-brain-scan.html
I find your post highly offensive and grossly misinformed, Hashime.

People can go for it as long as they don't get uppity about me confusing their gender and tell me upfront that I am hitting on them while they are dudes.

Who decides what are woman cloths and what are guy cloths, and why should you care what someone else wears?

On the other hand there are some things that are still called crossdressing, a man wearing drag, for instance. But these things only apply to males.

Yeah, it's impossible for girls to crossdress. Even if they wear a men's shirt no one bats an eyelash.

I couldn't care less about it. As for "can girls crossdress?"...
I don't know. Good one.
Happy to clear this up for people:

It exists.

Similar to my opinion of Fuzies. they're weird, but I don't care about what they do aslong as they don't care about me making jokes about them (all in good humor)
