Your opinion on Lil Wayne

So, Lil Wayne is currently one of the biggest guys in the rap industry.
What are your opinions on this guy?
Personally, I hate him, I think his voice is annoying, his lyrics are a joke, and his beats are sub-par.
IMO, there are much better artists out there (Lupe Fiasco, Mac Lethal, etc...
I won't even get into his butt buddy Drake.
So what are your opinions on Lil Wayne (and I guess Young Money in general?)

I can't stand his music. And note, I enjoy rap... or rather hip hop. Some of it at least.
But his stuff.... awful. But the same can be said for any mainstream musician of any genre.

I see. Well, considering that's used quite a lot here, can't blame you and Lil Wayne (and all of those similar "artists") are fucking horrible so I agree there.
Haven't really known any... rap that I like though. Just hip hop since it's a bit lighter. >.>

Lil'Wayne has been around for a while now. Ever since about 2000 with his first hit. His old stuff I can actually tolerate. His past was good but his present is ehhh.

I do agree on Lupe Fiasco. Defiantly better than Wayne.

meh it just depends, where im at and what they have playing specifically, and sometimes i just listen to music for the nice beats, or the sound of someone's voice, or if im feeling meaningful i'll chime into the words and actually give a care


so sometimes i'll be in the mood, generally he'll probably just be featured in the song, but yeah i can dance to him occasionally at a party, but outside of that, i probably wont listen to him unless it pops up in shuffle.


i don't see the point of getting super angsty mad about it..but whatever floats your boat i suppose.

Out of the mainstream rappers to come out post year 2000 I actually find Lil Wayne to be the most tolerable. Of course i'm talking about purely mainstream popular rappers. I find that he is actually a really good at crafting lyrics when he's not making a single. I believe he is completely aware that the stuff he's popular for is inane but thats what makes money so he does it. You can see him go into this idea on this song.

From what I've heard, he's good with lyrics and word play. I think Ice Cube said he was talented. I respect Ice Cube as an artist, so there might be some truth to what he says.

I can't say for sure as his music doesn't appeal to me. I didn't particularly like the music of his I listened to, and I was turned off by his image. It seems hollow. This may have influenced my opinion of his music.

Agreed. It's awful but... so is most everything mainstream.

True but... I dunno. I had to sit through one of his concerts once and he just seemed like an asshole. He was something like... 45 minutes late and only played for 20 minutes and just acted like a dick.
So yeah, I think it's a case of someone's ego getting a wee bit too big
