Your opinion on tattoos

I love tattoos, although it does irritate me when someone obviously didn't give it any thought or just picked a piece of wall art. I feel it devalues peoples' opinions of the individuals who did give their tattoo a lot of thought and meaning.

I've wanted one for as long as i can remember but every design I've come up with I've always made myself wait at least a year before having it done so I don't regret it. As a result I only have one tattoo (still in progress, so I don't f--- it up in one go) but I LOVE it.

OT: I like them, but within reason of course... like all things, over-doing it would lose the appeal of it...
but I still enjoy mine immensely, and have no regrets (yet)

I'm not interested in tattoo's at all in the slightest. There is absolutely no way I would ever want a tattoo on my body, ever. I don't see the attraction to getting one either.

When they're extensive on people and depending on what they are of, they make people look unclean and horrible to be honest. When it comes to women and dating, I wouldn't mind a small very unnoticable tattoo on her but anything too large and noticeable is a major turn off for me as it seems very chavvy and such.

I have tatoos covering both my arms, half my stomach and half my chest. Yet, I really don't give a shit about tatoos in general, or care for discussions about them. It's like people asking "What do you think of pink shirts?"

There are good kinds of tatoos and there are the bad kinds. People can see the difference, but that doesn't stop people from making the bad kinds. IMO, if it looks good it looks good, and creative stuff is fine too, as long as it's not obnoxious.
Personally, I'd like to get a small Mark of Slaanesh on my left breast, and that's it. It has a lot of meaning to me, and I never want to forget that meaning. Will it look good in 50 years? Maybe, maybe not. Hell maybe no one will remember what it is (most don't even know now), but I will. That's all that really matters.

Haha, mine is in the cute Princess zone I think. Well, a bit higher maybe. I love tattoos. Bad tattoos are bad, obviously, but that can be said for a lot of things. As long as the craftsmanship is solid, I can tolerate a less-than-original image.

Mandatory tattoo-flashing incoming. No, it's not that original but I like it. If it doesn't look that great, it's probably because the photo is from a few hours after I had it done.

I have seven tattoos up my right bicep going to the middle of my back. I say go for it if you want to, but keep them in a place that you can readily disguise them for job interviews or court summons.

They "can" be nice but Ive seen lots of bad tattoos. Even if they are good at 20 they dont always look as good at 50 and you have to be careful where you put them.

My mum had a colleague who was a structural engineer when she was a Quantity Survayer. While the military tattoos on his arms went down well on construction sites, he always felt it necessary in business meetings to cover them up with a long sleeve shirt no matter how hot it was because he was worried it would send the wrong message.

So basically, be average, define your life and your beliefs by standards set by other people? Don't dare stray outside the bonds of the culture that you live in/grew up in? No thanks.

I've been totally thrown off of getting a tattoo anytime soon by seeing my "highschool" classmates showing them off. Their reason for it is always something like, "it looked cool" and "because I can". For me, if I'm going to have something permantly marked on my body it would be something with actual significance.

I've seen way too many people with names and tribal patterns that I just know they're going to regret soon. (infact I know at least one person who has a name on his back that is already meaningless)
Personally I want a steampunk style biomechanical tattoo on the left side of my chest, just below the bust line.

Like people have said before tattoos shouldn't be something you get because you can, or want to because others have them.

I have a tattoo on the back of my right calf of Rainbow Dash. And I'd bet my savings that 99% of everyone here will judge me harshly for it simply because they think it's stupid, or because they hate MLP FIM. And you know what judge away, but you think your opinion matters. Not in the slightest, and if you still think they do, well keep on bleeding about it I'll just laugh.

Its a representation of my fierce loyalty to my friends and family, among other things of how I live my life. It may also show off I'm a Brony and a fan, but that reason is far back to secondary. (Especially since I wear pants most of the year)

I find them unsightly. I can't imagine getting one myself, and I wouldn't encourage someone else to get one, but if you want it I won't stop you.
