So I was playing a new game of Fallout 3 when I noticed something. Brotherhood of Steel knights/paladins, The Enclave soldiers and Outcast soldiers suck. These organizations have the best armor, weapons and tech, yet a squad of hardend veteran soldiers can be killed by some 19 year old kid just 5 days out of a vault? These guys have armor that you need to train to use, they have weapons that are capable of frying, burning, disintergrating, and molecularly distabilizing you, why are they so god-damn weak?

So my fellow Escapists, what so-called powerful organizations that you have encoutered in videogames have the most suprisingly weak forces?

North Koreans, once you actually look inside the nukes they parade around the street you find that they don't have radioactive material in them, but marshmallows. Ah well.

In before "its just a game dur!!!".

I'd say the Covenant. They have advanced plasma technology and they get bested by an ODST.

Oh, and more importantly the Machines from the Matrix. Hovering, lazer sporting, multi-eyed, squid warriors and they can't take out one city. Psh.

I mean, despite the fact that the "real world" is just another layer of the matrix used to camouflage the true matrix and its purpose, which is not to harvest energy from people (which is just stupid and violates about every law in all of science), but its to harvest creativity. Which we all know machines lack. Conspiracies man conspiracies.

Well, might as well just say almost every evil organization to have appeared in any videogame. It's their job in the game to be destroyed by the player. I mean, if you couldn't take them down, then where's the fun in that?

normally, i'd say there is not. having resolutely battled my way through the halo games, though, i'm pretty sure that jessie and james could have improved the covenant significantly.

The Wilkian Empire from Warship Gunner 2.

You have a navy big enough to cover every square mile of ocean and have found a large amount ultra-advanced Superweapson that can fire gigantic fuck-you lasers, but you get your ass handed to you on a constant basis by a ship run only by an indecisive commanding officer, a coward and whiner of a signal officer, a German supermodel who happens to be a scientist, and a guy whose only job it is to stand around and look pretty.

And then later you resurrect a gigantic Superweapon that has the power to destroy entire continents, yet goes down when ship and said crew fire little more than a couple of rounds at it.

WTF? Srsly...

1. How do you know that Korean nukes have marshmallows in them?

2. What game do you fight Koreans in (WW2?)?

I was really let down by the forces of hell in Doom.

Apparently the word of god or a double barrel shotgun is all you need to defeat the forces of satan.

There is this thing called main character syndrome.

The symptoms include having some big goal to accomplish, being better than most everybody else even if they have better armor and better training (except for rivals, some villains, and some seasoned mentor.), the last and most important symptom is that you can survive almost anything unless the plot says otherwise.

On Topic: I loved how death claws were pretty much feared in the game and I could kill them like they were nothing.

To all those people saying Gordon Freeman, he is meant to be overwhelmingly powerful I think. The "Freeman" as the Vortigaunts call him is part of a prophesy that states that...

Yeah I'm sorry, I'll shut up now.

Well, the EDF will rightfully kill you numerous times in that game, so that doesn't really count. And if they aren't rolling over you, you have backup so also doesn't count. :p

Just a word of advice, never play a Bethesda game without whatever respective version of MMM there is. (Mart's Monster Mod) Fixes stuff like this very issue, where the BoS and Enclave are such utter chumps. But let's be honest here, you destroy them because the Lone Wanderer carries shit like the Metal Blaster and Tesla Cannon. How do you compete with that?

Dude, super weapons never work. According to hollywood, hope is like, a bazillion times more powerful than a death star.

I know, in the original games the Brotherhood of Steel could take anything you throw at them and kill you in a single turn...

unless you knew how to play

but the Arena Champion in Oblivion, so weak, even the trio of malnourished slaves were a tougher fight

Stormtroopers? Unless you count the games, they couldn't hit their target if they held a shotgun at point-blank.
