"Everywhere we go; two words. Followin' us. Bad Wolf."
~The Doctor

Please excuse my narcissicm, because I'm about to indulge myself in a bit of Haruhi-ism. So, here goes.

Have you ever had those weird moments where reality kind of...bends around you? Where simple words and ideals open themselves up to you once you open yourself to them? When life just kind of works with what you happen to be doing at the time? For me, this has been happening more and more frequently.

The most recent example I can recall is with the word "Ad infinitum", or "to infinity". My english (way to be generic, Deleric) teacher uttered these words in class today, and being the..*ahem*, resourceful fellow that I am, I looked it up. Strange thing, I discovered a little one-pager about the word that I did in 7th grade, which I only seemed to remember now. It gets stranger here. At this point it didn't seem like such a rare occurrence. But then of course my other teachers begin using this word in the following week. Was it just something I missed over the years? Have they always been saying this kind of stuff and I just haven't noticed?

Of course, the next logical step is for the word to seep into other parts of my life. A member of my favorite podcast (which shall remain unnamed, to protect your children) said the word twice in the past 3 or so episodes. Those small glimpses of news I happen to stumble upon begin to carry the word as well. Hell, I've even noticed it on here every once and a while, all after my English teacher said it about a month ago.

Like I said, this isn't the only time that's happened. I recently finished catching up with Chuck (It gets my recommendation, btw) and my friends tries to recommend it to me a day later. Another example.

*gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa(I probably shouldn't have clicked the preview button midway into writing this. My browser is flickering like crazy)aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa(oh hey, Firefox 3.6.3!)aaaaasp*

...So, has this ever happened to you?

I started noticing Chrysler 300s everywhere after my Mom rented one from Enterprise after her other car went into the shop for two weeks.

That is what you're asking about, right? Your OP was kind of convoluted.

I recently discovered by chance that my city has a bridge that is only referred to as the "South Bridge". Immediately after that, everyone I talked to suddenly had to cross this bridge to get somewhere, it's like it never existed, and just appeared the moment I noticed it.
Matrix error, maybe?
There were a few other instances where this happened, but I don't recall them now.

Usually when I discover a new word it begins to appear in all the corners of my life. I think there's a technical term, that Radio Effect.. or something.

Basically its when you realise something after paying special attention to it (a word, a place) and begin to realise how often it turns up in life. These events would have occured anyway except they seem more special due to your recent discovery of the.. thing.

That didn't make any sense, but I'm tired.

To answer your OP yes, frequently. I like to pretend its something special, like Bad Wolf.

I also like to pretend that many deja vu's I have is some special sense for predicting what's about to happen and ignore the established theory that its a delay in your brain recognising something and your perception of it.

Hooray for the doctor!

And yes, that has happened to me.
Ever since I did a report on denmark in the 4th grade, I hear about it all the time now.

Heh, I was preparing to create a thread similar to this a day or two ago, then had to switch off the PC. Kudos to you then sir.

I remember getting this a lot with "egregious", "esoteric" and "ad nauseum". And I heard "egregious" before finding it in TVTropes, for anyone with Troping experience (and all my respect if you do).

I don't get it much with Latin phrases, because no one uses them, however, for anyone interested, "in toto" means "completely".

My 1980s Oxford English Dictionary prepares me for these rare events.

Today, I saw noticed a bunch of girls (not together) who looked at me and smiled and seemed to be "checking me out" if you will.

But the weird thing is that I've seen them all before. Specifically, I saw every single one of them in a dream I had last night.

Weirdest. Fucking. Thing. Ever.

I have had a lot of deja vu and moments where the universe seems to be bending in my favor. I just hope the latter lasts.

Happens all the time. It sucks because I always flashback to the scene in the matrix, with the black cat and think the world is glitched.

That always seems to happen to me whenever someone recommends a movie to me. For example, a girl I knew once said that I should see Across the Universe sometime. Lo and behold, within the same week, my mom plays a song from that movie's soundtrack, I see a preview for it in a dvd I watched with my dad, and then that movie comes in the mail via Netflix. Twas' a strange week indeed.

It's perfectly normal. It is called the Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon. You will probably hear about it again from a few other people soon so I will not go into too much detail.

Lately, my teacher got us texts to summarize about the upper education, and then, I watch Dan Brown's (the Youtuber, not the writer) debate on education at the university. Both around the time when I was wondering if I should stay at University :/
Also, Umineko No Naku Koro Ni with a few of my University courses (which makes it an even greater Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon)
