I've gone back a few times to see what I've posted in the past and my comments were quite boring and in some cases stupid. Thankfully, I've moved away from that now, I think/hope.

Although, my sarcasm and snarkiness have shown itself a lot more, yay progess! :D

They're not much different from my recent posts; short, usually neutral, sometimes with a smart-ass sarcastic remark that isn't necessarily picked up by the person it's targeted towards.....I'm a little passive aggressive like that.

The only difference is that I rarely visit R/P these days; it's impossible to argue with anyone in that section, because if you disagree with them you're automatically a misogynist, left-wing, fundamentalist, Christian nutjob.
That's the reason I stopped going there, that, and God forbid you call someone out for being an ass.

I can see that in my older posts I spammed emoticons. Which now makes me cringe. But my first post was about how I don't like Fallout 3.

The ones I just looked at from a little over a year ago (from when I first joined) were consistent with my viewpoints and manner of constructing posts. There were some typing errors that I immediately noticed, but I still commit those today. I'm prone to editing my posts which will sometimes leave grammatical errors like is/are, a/an the the and so forth.

My first post was in a thread called "Is humanity special" and I still agree with my opinion and how I phrased it.

I think the quality of my posts has gown way down over time. Heck, my second post used the phrase 'aerial fandango.' What the fuck was I thinking? How do I top 'aerial fandango' (which is starting to sound like a kickass band name)? Other than that, I was mostly neutral, polite, and spoke so formally it was almost painful to read. I understand what that one guy meant when he said I sounded like I had a dictionary shoved up my arse now.

(Relatively) old me seems like an ok guy, not quite as intelligent as present me, but he's got it in him, i'd like to be able to read through all of my posts and see how i've changed over the past year or so.

Thank HEAVENS they weren't so strict with the low-content rules back when I started.

I was very... terse.

VERY terse.

I had a look a while back. Awful grammar and spelling in the past, I hope it has improved. No more "u" "da"

That's not fair, I don't have any past posts to look back on! To try to answer the question in the OP, I seem to be pretty much the same as I was in the past. That is, a chronic forum lurker.
Now you can go back and read the post I just quoted... :p What do you think of that post!?
Overall I give it 6.5/10, could have done better. For a first post, it wasn't really that long, and I could have put more wit and humor in, perhaps even a funny and relevant picture or video. Oh well, that's what I get for posting at 4 A.M. Although it does get points for being quoted twice.

Happy first post, also, I'm now paranoid that you're stalking all of us.
Thank you! Also, stalking? Me? Of course not!

Man, this post is clearly superior to my previous one. I must be on a roll!

Captcha: "never give up". I even get an inspiring/semi-relevant captcha.

The only time I look back through my past posts is when I'm looking for a specific thread/post, which only gets harder to do as you post more.

In my very first post, I outlined my idea for a Falloutverse RTT.

I think a Fallout RTT (I am loathe to call what most people call "RTS" a strategy game) probably could be done, but special attention would have to be paid to the limitations of the setting to avoid making it just "Warcraft in Post-Apocalyptia". By this I mean limits on army size, mainly. And these limits would decrease for every unit killed in combat. Imagine the ground combat mechanics in Star Wars: Empire At War. You can land only as many units as your reinforcement points add up to. Now imagine that you cannot replace lost units until you capture another reinforcement point (in this hypothetical Fallout RTT, let's call it a town). This simulates the extremely limited population pool you have to draw from. The limit could be allowed to rise slightly over time, simulating travelers joining your cause and young 'uns coming of age. And it all could be tied into a reputation and economy system a la Stronghold Crusader, which would affect your population limits even more, along with providing the weapons and armor your army needs.

The balance issue however is nigh impossible to mitigate unless you take the Fallout 3 route of leaving out the Damage Threshold (I doubt you'd find Raiders in power armor otherwise) mechanic. You'd just have to leave "regular wastelanders" out as a playable faction, or keep them only for carefully-crafted campaign/story mode play. Anyone taking them for play in multiplayer would be quickly slaughtered, even granting that they could possibly salvage armor and weapons from defeated Brotherhood/Enclave troops.

Overall it lends itself much more easily to the 4X/Strategy genre, which opens up much more possibilities for victory and depth.

I used to have terrible posting habits like not using punctuation or capitalization. And I was 15 so I was kind of an idiot. Now that I'm 18 I clearly have a clear view of my life and what its purpose is.

I'm also better at sarcasm.

I would have to say that I'm a bit ashamed of my older posts. I think I came across as pretentious... like I was trying too hard. I'm glad to see others are also not too happy with their older posts. I'm not the only one... (I'm never the only one...)

I still do get a message when I am quoted! I had 2 'quoted messages' when I logged on today, both from this trhead! :p

You may want to check your settings, you may have inadvertantly turned it off?

You are a hero sir! A gorram hero! And I would have let you know sooner but I had no notifications.

That said, I never switched it off myself. Must have happened during one of the site redesigns (or I've started making oddly specific bad decisions while drunk).

Feel good now?

OT: I usually look back and find my opinion hasn't changed, but anything written at 4:00 AM makes me glad that this is the internet. Usually I quote someone though, otherwise I generally just read the first one or two pages but don't post.

My first post was the result of me registering on this forum just to tell someone, who was complaining about a well-intentioned mistake their wife made rather than just being grateful she was thinking of him in the first place, to stop being a jerk.

...A lot of my posts since then have been telling other people to stop being jerks. It's easy to forget that our opinions or initial reactions, especially on an anonymous venue, don't give us good reason or right to just act like assholes to one another, and I feel we'd do it a lot less often if there was always someone willing to say "Hey, you're being rude. Stop it." each time, to remind us that we are talking to other people, and should make an effort to at least get along, especially when there's no good reason not to.

And really, the guy was genuinely embarrassed over his reaction and did indeed follow the advice I gave to thank his wife for her gesture. Sometimes all it takes to change someone's outlook or decision is to let them know they could have done something differently. I'm admittedly more blunt than I need to be most of the time, but I do think a bit of an impact is sometimes necessary to shock a person out of their course. I just need to work on the ratio.
