Your Personal Starship

There comes a time in every man's life in which he just has to leave everything behind, build a spaceship in his back yard and go on a starfaring adventure to the places to which none have gone before him.
But before you start, here's a question for you: how are you going to design/build your personal starship? What features are going to be in it? You are flying into the great unknown of deep space, and you are going to be alone in a tub for who knows how long. What do you think is important to put in it? comforts? weapons? Android sex slave?(no)

Have fun answering another one of my stupid, useless theoretical questions.

My spaceship would pretty much be a giant rock. A really giant rock. You'd shoot it from an even more giant slingshot, because gravity works like that.

Needless to say my spacefaring days are far, far, far away.

One second, I've drawn a spaceship for a thread before on the escapist, it's a beauty.

Normandy 2. No doubt. It is a beautiful beautiful ship. I can haz Miranda Lawson too, please? And EDI.

Also, I used to really like the Pyro GX from Descent. I would need the qwerty keyboard to control it though. Never really felt that they exploited the possibilities of their bubble in Explorers.

I'd be inclined to build something similar to a GSV from the Culture universe, so that it's just as capable as a civilian ship as it is in battle. It would probably mean it would need to be the size of a Super Star Destroyer, but I think I can live with that. I'd probably replace the laser cannons with coilguns, though: one sufficiently powerful shot could theoretically disable any enemy ship, regardless of size.

then you whould still explode from the gas buildup (it was an exhaust port something was meant to come out of it) and alot of something if it was 2meaters wide

well of course i love the ssv normandy (sr2) from mass effect 2, but i grew fond of Dash Rendar's Outrider from star wars several years ago...maybe i'd just design my own with components of all my favorites...but what would i want?? fighter class, more frigate-like or something massive like a dreadnaught? maybe i'll draw something up today and come back...

Take the Outrider and put all the cool features from the Normandy-2 in it. Best of both worlds.
With the right DLC, the Normandy has a fucking cocktail bar.
