I guess the most concise term I can use for my phobia is cnidophobia. However, it's less a fear of stings than it is stinging insects in general. Hearing their buzzing makes me nauseous, and if I'm anywhere near one, I absolutely freeze, and I eventually start to shake and hyperventilate. One of the most terrifying moments of my life was when a yellow jacket climbed up my leg and onto my hair and face during a class in college. I was lucky that the professor noticed and killed the thing for me, but had he missed and it started flying, I would have had a downright panic attack. I'm even more nervous around a swarm of stinging insects, but having even a single one close to me makes me feel like I am brushing with death. The fear is absolutely irrational for me, and is a phobia because of that.
