Normally I'll just take shots of whatever I'm drinking or I'll mix it with coke so I can carry it around in a bottle without having too many questions asked (please don't judge my drinking habits). However the best drink I ever had was 1 part Vanilla Coke, 1 part Captain Morgan, and 1 part Sky Vodka. It may seem awful, and it probably is, but for some reason I loved it

Beer, Ales & Stouts specifically, can't stand your ordinary Lager. I'm mostly a "for-the-taste" drinker, so I like to know where my beer comes from, how it's made etc. etc.

This should suffice.

*Edit*

Though I do drink most types of Vodka... I can see why the Russians love it so...

Because I like the taste. I'm a beer guy. So let's go through my top 5 for those of you who are undoubtedly asking, "How does one love the taste of beer so much?"

1)

2)

3)

4)

5)

All these are craft beer, so you may or may not be able to find them where you live. But before you say you don't like beer, go to a craft beer store and have the people working there give you a few recommendations.

Other drinks I love:
Rum and Coke: Simple, easy to make, and tasty. Also something I can actually like if it's made with cheap rum.

Bourbon and ginger: I prefer Maker's Mark.

Old Fashioned: Go easy on it, it's like 80% bourbon. It's the original cocktail.
Now let's talk, OP. I'm assuming from your top choice of Guinness that you're a stout (or porter, if you prefer that term) guy. I highly recommend you to find a local craft brewery shop and ask the guys working there to give you a custom 6 pack of stouts. I would recommend specific ones, but the thing with craft beer is that they aren't widely distributed, so I could just be giving you options that you don't have access to. Check out ratebeer.com and beeradvocate.com as well. It's highly rewarding when you find something that is so good you just have to grin like a child and laugh.

Scotch is my main drink, but I'll drink pretty much anything except Beer.. I just can't enjoy the hops taste.. I've had some peach beer that I enjoy and my bandmate is determined to find me more, but overall Beer isn't for me.

I also enjoy shots.

Where are you from? RJ Rockers (Yes, dumb name for a brewery) has an outstanding one called Son of a Peach. I especially love it in the summer.

The closest to an alcoholic drink I've gotten is root beer. A good Stewart's is awesome.

It's not that I would necessarily NEVER drink, I just don't pursue it. Even if I did it'd probably only be a beer or two, getting wasted is not my idea of a good time.

I have not had a single alcoholic beverage but I will shortly be at drinking age. What should I try as my first drink? Should I expect my first drink to suck or be amazing?
Depends, but for your first drink, try something easy, like a pint of good beer, a simple spirit mix [rum and coke, whisky and coke etc] or a good glass of cider.

If you're close to drinking age you should have some idea if the local brews are any good through word of mouth, wait until later for some cocktails and other exotic mixes.

I'm not that much of an alcohol fan (more like tea obsessive). Though, when i'm in the mood for it, it usually is centered around whiskey - irish (bushmills or jameson), bourbon, baileys. I hate scotch with a passion.

Ohai there escapist, this is primarily for the drinkers amongst you, but if you do not partake then feel free to add your favourite non-alcoholic drink too :)

So yeah, what's your fave and least fave alcoholic drink/ coctail, and why? I'm interested to see what sort of answers I get, seeing as this is a fairly multi-national site I'm sure there'll be a good range of answers seeing as how such preferances differ across the world :D

For me, my favourite drink has to be Guinness. It's like a meal in a glass, but a freezing, smooth, tasty meal. It's gotta be from a tap though, the bottled stuff is like ass water.

Failing that, I'd choose one of the local ales from my local pub, the Three Tunns that are brewed on site. Delicious.

Least favourite has gotta be Vodka and red bull. It's so fucking sickly sweet, it smells awful and it makes me puke. A truly foul concoction.

Anyway thats enough from me, fire away :D
i love guinness. it actually got me out of an awkward situation too. i got to a theatre school, located in a gay neighborhood of pittsburgh. this means there are a lot of gay bars. this isnt a bad thing, it just means that as a guy, im much more likely to be hit on than i am when i go to straight bars. anyway, i ordered a guinness and soon after this guy started hitting on me, trying to get me to leave with him and he didnt seem to find "im not gay, sorry" to be a valid excuse. when my drink finally arrived he seemed repulsed by the idea that i drink guinness and walked away. i dont know what it was about the drink but whatever the case, guinness saved my ass (pun definitely intended)

guinness is expensive though so if i wanna get drunk for cheap, my drink of choice is pabst blue ribbon. about $10 for a 24 pack. its not great but its certainly not the worst cheap beer either. i have also had lingerman kreik. its an expensive Belgium beer that tastes more like cherry juice than beer (which is surprising since its like 7% alcohol) the bad news is that a case costs like $127

when it comes to the hard stuff, im a tequila man
