I usually start as a female character, I get involved in a romantic affair with the first lesbian Sim that will ring the bell of my house and at the end I marry her. Because I'm insatiable and a mean person I eventually cheat on her with one of her friends right in front of her eyes. She then slaps me on the face and then I try to give her a hard time as much as I can, until she leaves our house for ever with tears.

My first Sim is usually my attempt to make a clever, funny and interesting character that I enjoy. It's my one attempt to play the game seriously before I dive into a world of lesbian relationships and rooms filled with fireplaces, ovens and no doors.

In the Sims 3 my first character was a man named Angus McDoogle, he was a pot bellied grouch of a man who hated people, worked as a chef, was very tidy and enjoyed gardening.

...He died. I don't even remember how, but he did.

Oh, also every now and then I like to make a character of myself and have them get into a relationship with an Alien girl...because I'm weird like that.

LOL! Torturing Sims is a must in these games. I never thought of ovens and fire places. Haha! I just let them die slowly in complete state of misery. But I feel guilts after I kill them and I quit afterwards. My attempts to play The Sims seriously are always are a guaranteed failure. I'm not good in this game, so I prefer fooling around a bit before I move on to something else.

I've been dabbling with the idea of getting into Sims 3. I haven't played a Sims game since the first one though (I loved it) but I don't want to get sucked into lots of micro transactions. Instead of starting a whole new thread I guess I'll just ask people who clearly play it.

Just buying the game itself without any expansions would you say it is worth it? How far out do you think we are from Sims 4 and is it superior on PC or is the Xbox 360 version equally enjoyable?

Sorry about going OT but my questions don't seem to be worth a whole other topic.

I won't lie, as someone who only owns The Sims 3 (well...I mean not any expansion packs for it) The Sims 3 always felt kinda lacking to me in the stuff department.

I'd honestly recommend Sims 2 over Sims 3. Lot cheaper, more cool fan content, and if you do ever wanna get any expansion packs...yeah...cheaper.

But that's my personal take on it.

I will agree with the others, The Sims 3 isn't really a big improvement over 2, at least not one that could justify the full price. I say go for The Sims 2 on the PC.

Yeah, the base game is fine.

The first game was released in 2000, TS2 was released in 2004 and 3 in 2009, so going by that a couple of years away.
and is it superior on PC or is the Xbox 360 version equally enjoyable?
I haven't played the console versions, but considering console versions of The Sims tend to have loads of cut content compared to the PC versions (and no EPs), I'd definitly reccomend the PC version over the console version.

I usually end up trapping the neighbors in walls as they get close to them, it's always fun to have one wandering up and down trying to escape, they take a long time to die or dissappear.
