Almost drowned once... Wasn't particularly interesting but it's not something I fear that much, I was electrified(while wet) too and it's painful and possibly the most helpless I ever felt, more than drowning actually...

Colourful childhood stories aside, my worst fear? Professional failure and a menial teaching job for the rest of my life. Considering my two elected fields of Music and History it's not that unlikely, even more so when you take into consideration the lack of interest and opportunity in my general area.

Experiencing Pain which I don't know were it is coming from/what is causing it would be my greatest fear :(
I'm lucky I'm not afraid of that! I'm still growing, so I get random pain in different parts of my body from time to time. At least, I hope it's because I'm growing. I also have something very annoying, namely itchy eardrums. Not quite sure why.

OT: Anything happening to my family, especially my little brother. I love him more than anything else. Including my own life. Wow, that took a turn to the darker...

I'd say mine is permanent imprisonment. The thought of seeing the sky just a window away and never being able to reach it, ever, ever again... I think it would drive me properly mad. I wouldn't last a year.

everyone i love or care for dying or being in pain.

my own life or well being? no, no, no. compared that means f*** all to me. i have had this nightmare a few times and it honestly scares me more than any other thing in the world. maybe i am being too cliche but at least it's honest.

My greatest fear, above all else, is death.

Now, assuming the hole has some kind of sentience, it probably would gain no joy from just killing me outright. That's no fun. So I assume it would put me in situations wherein I could very likely die, and every time I escape (if I do) I am plummeted into another deadly situation, being scared out of my mind, until I eventually fuck up and die.

... I'm gonna start checking basements before I buy a house.

What was that comedy skit? Spiders with clown faces on fire was it? Yeah that would scare me. Hell that would scare anybody.

Spider, it's always spiders. Ok I can handle little ones but not big ones and I dread how I would react when came face to face with a real taruntula.

The people I care about the most hating me. Not just "Oh I hate you" but deep hatred and disgust for me. Which goes hand in hand with dying and no one caring.

For me, it is darkness. The idea of not being able to see where you are going and what is around you frightens me

Whales.

No I'am not shitting you. The greatest fear in my life is whales. I would even go as far as saying that it's on phobia level of fear.

Not to be a low content poster or anything, I just feel that the word alone conveys an enormity of being greater than any description I could give. Death is the only thing I fear- as far as I know anyway. I imagine being dead much the same as being not-born. That is to say, unimaginable. Basically, the fear of death is the most extreme example of the fear of the unknown- in this case the unknowable. The fear of the unknown being a logical and reasonable response that allows one to better combat or explore new things while keeping on guard.

I feel all fears basically boil down to this- fear of loved ones dying etc. Primarily because we can't know death.

I have a few, death, insanity, and heights. The thought of dying and slipping into non-existence terrifies me. Just trying to imagine my consciousness being snuffed freaks me out.

Edit: TheEvilCheese did a great job explaining my feelings on death.

Death & ageing. The actual moment of dying doesn't bother me as much as the actual thought of time slowly but surely dripping away and the knowledge that one day, everything will be gone. Not just me, but all that civilisation has built up. Forever.

Freakin' whales. Too damn big.

I also don't like being in underground caves.

Large bodies of water. Too cold, too wet and you could drown in them. I've also had a phobia of vomiting for quite some time (Y'know, the "OH GOD IT'S ALMOST WORSE THAN DEATH" kind of phobia). Managed to cure myself of it, though. Or so I think...

EDIT: Being stuck with a crappy job and never getting to fulfill my aspirations also sounds quite frightening.
