*WARNING!* THIS POST IS MUCH LONGER THEN ORIGINALLY INTENDED. WE DO NOT BLAME YOU IF YOU DON'T READ THROUGH THE WHOLE THING, BUT THEIR *WILL* BE A TL:DR AT THE BOTTOM.

So, a few weeks back I started listening to a band called The Megas. For those not in the know, The Megas are a band who take the Level Music from the original Mega Man games and play them instrumentally while adding lyrics.(This is better then it sounds, trust me.)

Anyway, it's because i've been listening to them that i'm playing the original Mega Mans again. Finishing Mega Man 2, I moved on to Mega Man 3, and I just got around to finishing that too. For anyone who's played the original Mega Man games, the first 3(and most of the others) pretty much have the same plot: Dr. Wily blows some stuff up, Builds 6 Robots which Mega Man must defeat to get at him. At the end of Megaman 3, After defeating Dr. Wily yet again, His Doom-Fortress-that-has-feet-for-no-apparent-reason starts collapsing, and both him and Mega Man are covered in rubble, When Mega Mans brother, Proto Man, comes and rescues him.

We see Mega Man in Dr. Light's lab, when Dr. Light comes in and says(paraphrased) "Mega Man! I found you lying here. I wonder who could've brought you here.. This Whistle.. It had to've been.. PROTOMAN!?"

Mega Man leaves and to take a walk and think about the fact that he has a brother, but ANYWAY, the thing that triggered one of my many extremely random thoughts while i'm bored in Algebra was the line "I found you lying here." That means Dr. Light had to ENTER his lab, and that made me think "Why was Dr. Light out of his lab in the middle of a terrorist attack?" Because depsite the goal of world domination, all Wily is is a really well funded (where DOES he get all the metal required for the stages, his robot army, and doom fortresses anyway?)

Which led me to think "Well, The City isn't being directly threatened by Wily's Robots, so maybe their okay to walk the streets." which led me to think "So, if the Robot's aren't directly threatening the citizens, and just waiting in their stages, why aren't the Armed Forces doing anything?" Which made me think "Well, maybe armies are completely robotic now. It would explain where Wily got his army." But i didn't like that answer so I thought "Maybe Wily destroyed Army bases before they had time to mobilize."\

I'm sure there's something somewhere that explains all this, but i prefer to come up with this stuff myself.

TL:DR Version: Did you ever have a situation like this, where you thought really hard about the plot of a game that doesn't really have one?

I tend to overthink games as well. When I read into the plot of the games I play I often find big holes. I sometimes amuse myself by trying to make up plotlines to fill these holes. Recently, I tried to come up with a movieplot for Pac-Man. Here's what I've got so far (I understand it's cliche, that's the point!)

Pac-Man: The Movie
Pac-man is a competitive speed-eater, on the run from his past.
Finding himself trapped in strange maze-like house, he is being haunted figuratively and literally by the ghosts of the people who killed his wife and only son.
He's on a mission for vengeance that he was denied by the "justice" system, and he's going to fight back the only way he knows how.
He's going to eat the ghosts.
