Hello there fellas,
i can see that some games(i refuse to mention their names) are completely overshadowing some other titles with quite some potential. The most obvious sign of this is the sheer amount of threads about those ''games''(i stopped counting after 3)but back to the topic.

Fo those already familiar with Anarchy reigns can probably skip this part but for those who are not should read this.

Anarchy Reigns is the next game from Platinum Games(known for their titles like Bayonetta and Madworld) and has been officially classified as an Online Brawler(mind you,a Brawler.Don't mix it up with fighting games like Tekken)
The idea is to put up to 16 players into a small arena/stage(whatever you may call it)so they can duke it out with hectic and action filled close combat brawling(also a known sign from Platinum Games).Kill seekers also roam the stage, they are common enemies(the usual type you find in any brawler) but can also spec ops with firearms or giant mutants with hammers.
Each character has his/her own Unique''Killer Weapon''
Jack has his trademark retractable chainsaw.
Durga has a giant revolver as a prosthetic leg.
Those are used for more damaging combos and moves or to finish off a player for a better score, but are limited by a gauge with 4 bars,1 attack with it costing 1 bar,the 4 bar limit can be raised temporarily with an item.
Items are also scattered across the stage, ranging from rocketlaunchers, grenades and sniper rifles to items which cloak the player or can freeze the opponents.
While the players are fighting eachother an ''Action Triggered Event'' can occur.
It comes when least expected and is usually an environmental hazard,i.e.:A giant saw blade running across the stage,Bomber jets bombing the stage or even a giant tsunami sweeping the the stage. They may turn the tide of the battle, help out losing players or terminate them all.
Following game modes have been confirmed

Deathmatch(4 players free for all): Timed battle,Goal is to get the highest score/Kill Count
Team Deathmatch(unsure about the player count, either 2vs2 or 4vs4):no need to explain
Survival mode(3 players):A team of 3 need to survive against never ending waves of the above mentioned kill seekers
Cage Match(1vs1):Classic one-on-one action
Team battle(unknown player limit):Class(?)based TDM with a ''twist''
Deathball(4vs4):A mix of rugby and footbal/soccer combined with the action of the game
Battle Royal(16 players free for all):Battle till the last one is standing

http://youtu.be/9PnM9FGJJyU A trailer showcasing the three modes: Deathmatch,Cage Match and Battle Royale

Currently there are following characters confirmed
Jack - KW:Gator Tooth
Sasha - KW:Snow Spikes
Zero - KW:Onimaru&Jyuzumaru
Blacker Baron(stop starin')- KW:Super Sexy Fists of Fire
Mathilda - KW:Iron Maiden
Big Bull - KW:Jet Hammer
Leo - KW: Positron Blades
Oinkie - KW:The Juice
Garuda - KW:Tornado Drill
Durga - KW:Revolver Cannon
Nikolai - KW:Tesla Coils
!!Bayonetta!! - KW:Wicked Weaves

Even though the game is focused for Online Multiplayer,PG still put some effort on a singleplayer.
It tells the story of anarchy reigns from 2 perspectives.

With platinum games working on it ,i have no doubt that this game will turn out good. With people from God Hand or Madworld working on it,how can it not be good?!
I find it just sad that games like these are pretty much unknown to the public through bad marketing or even overshadowing from other games

Welcome to the Escapist!

Well, it is partially the developer's fault - it is pretty much pointless to try to release anything this time of the year, because it will instantly get overshadowed by the big titles. IMO, it would be better to wait until spring-summer to release it.

Admittedly, the game does sound cool, and I don't even like fighting(or brawling, for that matter) games.

Since it's a Platinum game, I will expect it to be good but it will suprise me if it turn out bad. I really hoping it does well as the characters in the game look interesting and unquie.

Not exactly the most subtle product push I've ever seen, but I suppose I'll take a look.

I find it highly amusing that you are lamenting the game's going unnoticed due to bad marketing and overshadowing. As if this is a bold departure from cultural and social norms; another bright spark of creativity being extinguished under the wet blanket of mediocrity.

Yet upon viewing the trailer, what do I see? A hulking, grizzled, chisel-jawed, cigar-chomping, gravel-gargling bad-ass. Because there's not quite enough of them in the market right now.

I admit it looks fun for what it is, I just wanted to point that out.

Looks interesting, I will have to see the reviews and do more research because I am not sure how the game mechanics work, and good game mechanics are essential to fighting games.

So, if platinum are working on this, does that mean no Bayonetta 2 for some time?

It's hard to tell. By EU/US dates they released Bayonetta and Vanquish in the same year, so I wouldn't rule out that the team behind Bayonetta is secretly working on it or something. I hope that's the case, anyway.

Sry for this answer but i highly doubt there will be a sequel/prequel to most/any of platinum games
it even says on their homepage description that they try to depart from sequel based franchises and instead try to bring something new everytime.i think they do a great job at the latter
but seeing how this game uses characters from their previous work madworld they might break their formula this time(dont weigh my words in truth for it might be a spin off)

i admit the character design might not be original or creative for the most(except for Durga, you gotta admit he got one badass leg prosthetic)neither is the environment however the gameplay is actually something that hasnt been used that much or even less.In fact this is the first game of this kind i saw in this generation.
as for some other games there are more then enough of their kind
maybe its just me because im honestly sick of seeing the world in ashes over a gun barrel

Looks like skyrim/MW3 post release hype has cooled off a bit.
If it stays like that for a while maybe the game gets to show what its made of.

From what I've seen it looks good. Loved Bayonetta and Vanquish so I'm guessing this'll be enjoyable as well.
