I'm assuming (hoping) that this girl is a genius who has figured out how easy it is to make money by making terrible music and feeding it to the masses and has proved it by doing it herself. The reality, however, is that she's just another idiot pop singer

What I heard:

She pitched herself to Ark Music Factory (which I've nothing but bad things about), and they had her sing that song. They then charged the mother $2000 for production and video shooting. They then took it and processed it to freaking DEATH.

Rebbecca herself is waiting for the day when the whole thing blows over and she can try again with something less terrible, but has to ride the fame wave now.

I HOPE that's true.

I just watched this news report video about it in which the studio guys said that she can sing well and in key but they still autotuned the shit out of her because... um... it's cool? It's hip and the in thing, I guess

But what annoys me the most, is that the girl herself is an okay singer, yet the amount of Autotune is ridiculous so that she sounds like she is just being the worst singer in the world.

This. Simply by watching this video you can see that the girl herself is actually pretty good. She is either going to be ruined because the song is horrifically bad or she is going to be the next sensation because when you get past the autotune she isn't bad. She's Disney Channel material, she has a demographic to target, if they can cut the autotune and just get her to sing then she'll be popular and will be the next big thing; if, that is.

If she makes any money from this, I hope she saves it. I really don't see a second hit with that vocal range, unless she turns out to be a good rapper or something.

I can see how pre-teen girls would love it, it seems like something relatable when all you worry about is BFF's, stickers, gum and passing notes in class. Still, nothing that anyone older can latch on which means she may end up Disney Channel to obscurity.

She's still better then Clay Aiken or U2...

Rebecca Black had no part in writing or producing the song. Her parents paid a company, she got recorded and put on the Internet. Then I think I was on Tosh.0 and it exploded from there.

Hate the songwriters, hate the producers, hate the film director, hate the company. But there isn't any reason to hate the girl...

Can anybody else detect this becoming another Justin Bieber? They both began as hits on youtube.
Aaaanyway, the songs awful, autotune wrecked it so now she sounds like she's strangling a cat everytime she says Friday. But I guess you could say she's an OK singer at best if they didn't add in so much autotune.

Okay, Rebecca Blacks Version of that song is pretty bad. But the originals version by Bob Dylan is really great. It's actually a very deep song about society in the Sixties, which is kind of lost in Ms. Blacks version. "Friday" was never one of Dylans moste succesful singles because it had to compete with the Beatles "Baby" and Elvis Presleys "Bad Romance" but it's really not that bad. It's pity that the song gets so much hate because of Rebecca Blacks horrible cover. Here, listen to the original version:
