Your Thoughts on Halo 3

Yes, the game has been out for 2 years. I'm well aware of that. I don't want people flaming this thread just because I didn't post this around the time it first came out.

I'm fairly new to the Escapist, and I've been noticing alot of bias about hyped games such as Halo 3. So what I want to know is why there is so much bias about this game.

In my opinion, Halo 3 is one of those games where it's more fun to just mess around than to have serious games, most likely because of the Forge maps people can make. Halo 3 does provide some fun serious games in Matchmaking, but there are other games out there that (in my opinion) have better gameplay when it comes to ranking up/rewards. While I do think Halo 3 is overrated, and didn't really live up to it's hype, I think it's worth buying. Once you get enough friends to play in Custom Games, anyway.

So what are your thoughts on Halo 3? Is it good, bad, or just overrated? Give a reason for your decision.

I'm thinking that we've had enough halo threads for several immortal lifetimes.
Personally, I enjoy it.
But that's probably because I don't demand much other than entertainment from my games.
And shooting stuff qualifies in my book.

Mediocre games, right. But it is a fun game, and provided many hours of entertainment for my friends and myself. And that is all I want from my game: entertainment.

I guess it's worth a buy; not for full price, though. It's really fun if you have a bunch of friends and mess around with custom game types. If I want serious gameplay, I'd pick up Call of Duty.

Halo is pretty much the simplest fps ever, everyone starts with the same weapons, you dont have to hold down a button to zoom in and everyone knows the rules

I personally love it, but thats from a major grade 2

I think it's an amazing game in some respects. I personally feel it's the best console shooter ever made, I couldn't compare it to PC though because of the whole mod scene.

There's too much hate for a good game on this forum.

Halo 3 while not a great game certainly wasn't bad. It suffered from a short lackluster solo mode but made up for it in a entertaining and mostly balanced multiplayer.
I don't like multiplayer all that much but still found it to be an enjoyable experience. The single player is also fun to tackle on legendary with a friend, some beer, and a pizza or two.
Not great, not horrible. A decent game at worst that only receives hate because of fanboys/girls and noisy opinionated people.

Kind of ranted a bit there... oh well.

Well, I guess you're new so you wouldn't know that.

I've said this a few times already, but Halo was one of the first mainstream games to connect so many dots in a genre. It did many things right and, along with KOTOR, it helped launch the Xbox and is therefore part of the reason that Microsoft exist in the console wars as it does today.
