Your thoughts on Quentin tarantino films!

After finally seeing reservior dogs, which i found entertaining, i still didnt think it lived up to the expectations i had for it. I loved kill bill and inglourious bastards, not to mention the grindhouse films, yet im still no sure where i stand with his film making, What does the escapist community think?

I just saw Reservoir Dogs as well! Thought it was bloody amazing, especially the music and dialogue. I have also seen Kill Bill Vol. 2, and thought that was ok. Inglourious Basterds is also really good, even though it was advertised wrongly.

I love Tarantino films. His style can be a bit predictable and almost slightly self-aggrandized sometimes but he truly does write dialogue and atmosphere like no other, the first attested to by Pulp Fiction (which is just epic) and for atmosphere, I challenge anyone to find a more tense moment that the beginning scene of Inglorious Basterds.

Tarantino could probably be called an auteur, in the sense that his films have such a remarkable and unique style and flair. Whether his movies are likable or not varies wildly, often depending on your threshold for screen violence.

Personally, I find his films to be sinfully enjoyable. The man himself is kind of a arse, though.

You know, it was advertised (at least over here it was) as a balls to the wall, non-stop shooter/ explosion-fest, when we really got a well written, almost thriller style film. A more tense moment? The bar scene in the same film. You just knew something was going to happen but couldn't tell when or what.

most of his movies are really really good, some ary crappy(im looking at you, deathproof)
many people say they expected more since fans tend to overhype the movies.
oh and his movies are 90% dialouge, suck it up

My thoughts? He's great. Inglourious Basterds was his best followed closely by Kill Bill.

I like Quentin Tarantino. His movies are usually kinda weird. With most films, you can't really tell who the director is unless they throw it in your face in every trailer. You know a Tarantino film when you see it.

If you like Tarantino, but have seen all his films, check out Sukiyaki Western Django. It's a Japanese western(in English, no subs) directed by Takashi Miike, and Tarantino has a small role in it. It's very much directed in a Tarantino style. Brilliant film.

He's one of my favourite directors, i think he's absolutely brilliant. He helped give me Kill Bill, Inglorious Basterds and Reservoir Dogs.

Why wouldn't you love him? In his films he actually tries to do something different i think, it's one of the reasons i like him.

I agree; he's pretty much invented his own style of directing and his dialog and characters are always really interesting.

I've hated every single one of his movies. I'm sure there's some kind of niche appeal for them, but they're all shallow with stupid plots shakily "held up" by very violent scenes. I really don't understand at all why so many people like them.

He was the director. It would be weird for his name not to be on it.

Pulp Fiction is good, yes, but one good film does not make up for countless other subpar ones.

Accept he wasn't. Robert Rodriguiez directed the whole thing basically be just listening to Frank Miller. QT directed a single 4 min scene...(The bit with Jack-boy coming back to life in the car). Rodriguez let QT do like 1 single days worth of directing as a favor to show him a green screen technique.

QT's got a 'presents' credit out of the deal. He likes to do that when he wants to claim credit for other peoples efforts now and then. On some releases he also 'presents' the Jet Li movie Hero...ummm yeh ok QT.

Ok so he was one of the directors, big deal. Also he doesn't get a 'presents' credit, it just says 'special guest director'.
