Well, since the Big 3 conferences are over i just thought "what the hell" and decided to post a topic on your thoughts of the conferences assuming you saw them.

I personally think that Nintendo was the weakest conference out of all of them, they didn't really unveil anything stunning or anything. My friend the acclaimed Nin-boy even thought that Nintendo's conference was lacking, with the only game that he was interested it was Animal Crossing for the wii, which i will never admit that i am slightly excited for it ;P. Their conference basically started bad (the weird lady talking about her life story or something) and they didn't reveal what we wanted. Where the hell is Kid Icarus? The new DS? They did have some nice games like Wii Music and the new Wii Sports game, but overall we were disappointed with Nintendo's conference.

I personally thought that Sony had the best conference out of all the companies (though that might be because i'm a Sony-boy) they gave me/us most of what we wanted and that's the games. Sure, they announced some movie and TV show deals but mainly they showed us the games that we wanted to know about (most of them anyway) and they announced a couple of new IPs (like MAG and the DC MMO game). Overall i was satisfied with Sony's conference, nothing too amazing but it still got me excited.

But for MS, i'm not exactly sure what to think about them. I suppose it's like this for all companies, but the speaker for MS really got on my nerves and he acted like 360 has most of the games when 80% of the titles he mentioned were multiplatform (though, again, it's probably the same for everyone else) They came out with a couple of cool demos for the hardcore fans and even i was a little excited about Gears 2, then all of a sudden just switched to a completely casual image. They showed all of these weird, stupid casual games that not even my dad would play (though that's probably a bad example considering he finds all games stupid). And the whole FF13 business, i got over most of that after a couple of hours but that's basically the biggest announcement out of everyone.

So, basically, nothing that big out of E3 so far IMHO.

What were your thoughts on the conferences? Who had the worst one, who still needs to get their ass in gear?

Sony probably had the best conference overall, while Microsoft had the biggest initial shocker. I actually think that the whole FF13 thing being the biggest news of MS' conference is very sad.

I found Sony to be VERY underwhelming.
I was thinking "What about the games, dammit?" the entire time.
The only cool stuff they have shown was the gameplay of Resistance 2, a 20-second CGI GoW3 teaser and the LittleBigPlanet bit.
And the "bombshell" announcement of Massive Action Game left me cold too, seeing that it won't hit shelves in like 2 years.

Microsoft started out strong, with gameplay of various big titles and the announcement of the huge dashboard overhaul and their deal with NetFlix.
I didn't really like the Quiz game or the weird movie-make game, but the JRPG's and music games made up for that. Oh, and there was something about FFXIII coming to 360, that was pretty huge too.

i liked how they used Little Big Planet to build the boring ass statistics charts for Jack Trenton. did anybody even listen to him?

I thought Sony's was the best.

Showed me some games that i never knew about. But M$ get one up on buying out sqaure for the FF series.

That said, i dont think i would want it on the xbox360. They would have to cut down alot to fit it onto the disc. Esecially after the dev team saying something about filling all of the blue-ray disc, even if it was said in jest.

I second that. That was a nice touch.

When Sony announced the MAG game i thought "holy shit, 256 players?"

Now, i'm not going to say anything until we get more information from the game, but MAG does look very interesting especially with the unheard of triple-digit battles in the game. It's literally going to be an all out war.

Oh, and the LBP presentation was pure win, i loved every second of it. It game us alot of information on the game itself too, looks like i'm going back to the drawing board.

it's a very ambitious proposition. it could easily fall apart if the leveling/penalty system is not balanced well enough to incentivize people towards forming proper squads and executing things correctly.

a 256 player tea bagging cluster fuck is not appealing.

i was really dissapointed with nintendo. i think its the first time mario didnt show off some new game during the conference. and regie said afterwards that the core gaming audience should have been pleased by animal crossing and GTA DS. I dont understand why core gamers like animal crossing, and GTA will probably not work on DS.

i only watched the first 20 minutes of sony, but trenton said there had been a flood of titles in 08, and mentioned GT 5 (which wasn't the full game), GTA 4 (which had more content on the 360), and MGS 4.

I really don't understand why MS is changing the entire xbox interface. there's nothing wrong with the old one. also, i don't get why they're waiting untill fall to release it; it was usable at E3. i understand for games because it gives time for hype to build, but this is free software that will automatically be downloaded

i don't know, i think the wii-mote upgrade is huge. i never bought the Wii because i thought the detection was utter crap.. the upgrade seems to solve all of that though.

i might just buy one yet.

I'm a hardcore Nintendo man. But Nintendo this year for me, absolutely 110% sucked.

They said about not forgetting core gamers. Yeah right... Shut up Reggie and go count your money...

That new remote would have been cool, but to put it into another casual game is just annoying. What about us hardcore gamers? Where's Disaster - Day of Crisis. Where's the 40+ hr games.

Nintendo has sold out.

c'mon, don't get sassy now. i said hours, not days. i just think you are under estimating the value of 1 to 1 motion detection, and of course it's not in any current games the damn thing was just announced.

just be patient, they obviously wouldn't have created it just for a new Wii Sports title.

I liked the idea of the leveling up system in MGO, you are given 4 slots to fill in skills that you want. You level up those skills, but some of those upgraded skills require more than one slot (like Asault Rifle perk or CQC perk) and you would have to sacrafice a skill to get the better version.

I liked that balanced gameplay, hopefully the character leveling up system won't be fucked up.

Though, a 256 tea-baging session sounds like an official game for some reason o_O

i hope they do something similar to that in Resistance 2 online. where like a massive 20 story tall monster counts as 10 players or something, forcing a team balance based on a point system rather than equal players.

you can have unbalanced character types as long as you handicap against it. i don't know why online games don't get this concept.

If I watched any of those 3 conferences I'm sure the Nintendo one would have had my blood boiling at the lowest temprature, and the microsoft one at the highest temprature mainly because the spokesman they hire seem to have just logged out of GameFAQs - and Sony somewhere inbetween, sometimes they are just stupid and dance around topics you want them to talk about, and then they have their highlights, but sometimes make a fool of themselves.

Anyway, I'll get a quick Recap on Sony and Ninty since I saw coverage on MS's last night. MS focused a lot on Gears 2, Fable 2, some Banjo stuff, and then talked about the 360 (or I guess it's now the 36ii) updates. I do like that I can install things onto the HD now though.

-and boy is it dissapointing to hear about Nintendo's conference...I was hoping to get some dust off my Wii. Maybe get some long awaited fixes for this thing too.
