In the Eragon books, if one were to truly know ones self, they would come to know their true name. Knowing that name tells your everything about yourself as it is. No lies, no fibs, no secrets and nothing buried deep within. Would you want to know it?

For me, I don't want to know it. Nuh-uh, no way. I don't want to know who I am, but who I might possibly be. Because if I knew who I really was, would I even want to try to be different or would I try too hard to be different? I don't know, and I don't want to know.

Yes. I can't think of anything I wouldn't want to know, be it about myself or otherwise.

I have taken the name Eliam for myself sometime ago, and honestly I identify more with it than with the one given by my family. So I guess I already know it...kind of

Yes. As said, knowledge is power and without knowledge of yourself, how can you possibly plan or prepare for the future that you want? Mastery of oneself is just as important as mastering the world around; without knowing what one is able to do, one can hardly utilize the surroundings to their best benefit. If one cannot utilize their surroundings, does not know the system of laws, is unaware of possibilities open to him or lacks knowledge of oneself to use these, one cannot have a vision of the future and bring it about to the degree they wish.

Apparently my name means 'Guerrilla fighter'.

That sounds like a lovely profession.

See you in Palestine!
Appropriate considering your heritage. Having the name Brave Weasel doesn't seem to correlate with me so much though...

eh. I'd take it. I'd love to be free of all the influence that makes who we are these days.
To be truly yourself, no matter how corrupt, evil, perverted, etc.

To be honest I like to think all humans are have good intentions. i try to be an optimist.
So i guess I'm trying to say I would be happy with knowing myself.

I answer to Fred as much or even quicker than I do to my real name. To me, I am Fred and I even call myself Fred in the 3rd person.

It seems to me -- knowing nothing about the series -- that apprehension at knowing one's true self would prevent one from ever knowing. To know who you really are you'd likely have to come to accept whatever you learn as your identity. Resisting that seems counterintuitive, more akin to repression.

It'd be interesting to just know everything about yourself, to immediately know your opinions, preferences, desires, etc.. It seems like having that sort of knowledge could prevent a lot of conflict, especially of the internal sort.

If any utter the Gadzooks name,
A stormy death of light and flame,
Shall devour them all... I ran out of rhymes, you get the idea.

Well...... i always try to take the "Knowledge is Power" Route in Games and in Real Life so WHY NOT?
Besides, would it not be cool if you found out you were destined to rule the world or something equally great?
