Please I'd love someone to read this whole thing. I know it's kinda long-winded, but I just want some positive feedback on it.
Okay I've always loved to think about this game concept. or games to be precise. It's more of a mod system for a bunch of huge environments, but as an example lets use liberty city from GTAIV.
The idea is that there is a super flexible game engine that is distributed between all the big name publishers and developers as kind of a freeware style thing. Anyway, you could get a city or landscape of your choosing free with a new console like a PS3, saved to the HDD and with a multitude of slots to fill in i.e character models, a.i graphic filters, abilities, weapons etc. Then when you set up ur console on the net, you can download all of these different bits and pieces to add to the game and you can use as many or as few as you want. kinda like Lego.
The key aspect of this is microtransactions. So basically say EA can get some in-house devs to make an avatar and with that avatar comes most of his animations and movements (eg. running, walking, climbing, melee attacking, jumping and so forth). then you can say, download a civilian/population set, like zombies, or inner city civies to populate the world. or don't. Then you can download a bunch of different weapons and abilities, such as lightning powers like in inFamous, or a set of alien weapons and all of those weapons sets contain their own animation sets which interlock into your avatars animations. then do ones of enemies, weather, vehicles and stuff (maybe even whole environments, like a wasteland, or a jungle) and you can put together your own game to mess around in and have fun with. you could even download whole kits, like Little Big Planet, which have a bunch of sets (characters, a.i, civies, weapons, vehicles, abilities etc.) to make a whole game, including a story for you to follow as whatever character you like.
So you could be jumping around a jungle as a fire-slinging bus driver fighting zombies that act like 1940s gangsters.
yeah. The idea could be expanded a bit, but I think I has potential. Even if you just used it in one Producer, like EA, you could get spectacular results.
