Touching fish, and especially being in the water with a fish, no matter how small, with any amount of skin exposed. I've run screaming from the sea because I spotted fish less than an inch long before. This extends to fish skin on my food as well.

It's a problem, because I love being in the sea, have a real interest in sealife and dream of becoming a marine biologist, and enjoy eating seafood. It literally makes no sense at all. I've been working on overcoming the phobia, and in the last few months I have just about got to the point where I can peel the skin off a piece of smoked mackerel without completely freaking out.

I know it sounds ridiculous, but such is the nature of phobias, I guess.

Motherfucking centipedes. Household centipedes.

What's worse is they're easy enough to hallucinate if you've got a quick moving 'floater' on one of your eyes and happen to glance across a blank patch of wall at the same time.

I wouldn't say I'm phobic as 'afraid' of them, but they pull some sort of fundamental revulsion and compel me to scour the visited area in a frantic search and destroy mission.
Because I'm adding wherever that thing comes from as a place to stay the hell away from.

I've recently discovered I have a general fear of things with eight legs. This is odd to me because if something has more (excluding that thing above) I'm okay with it. But spiders, crabs and octopuses (I think it is octopi but auto correct says that isn't a word) all unnerve me horribly.

Wasps. Wasp terrify me. I'm a six foot tall stocky chunk and if a wasp comes towards me I freeze in in terror or run screaming in the other direction. And I try not to talk about the time one about an inch wide flew into my computer room.

Also, dead spiders. Spiders don't really scare me as a rule, apart from surprise/shock moments where one comes out of nowhere. But dead ones just creep the heck out of me.

There is an animal in the world, known as The Suriname Toad, I am in general, and animal lover, particularly reptiles and amphibians. The Suriname Toad however I hate, I am so utterly disgusted by this creature that human language does not have the capacity to adequately communicate how I feel. I literally have to fight the urge to vomit when I see this creature, it is the one and only animal on the planet that I want completely and utterly extinct as soon as possible.
You might have trypophobia, which is a fear of clusters of small holes, especially when they're in the skin. Suriname Toads are common triggers of this. I have it too, and that sort of stuff creeps me the hell out.
I will absolutely second this. I once had a picture in my high school biology book with a picture of a certain cluster of cells that occur during the closure of a wound. It revolted me to such a degree that I first blackened out the image with a marker, and then resorted to tearing out the page and throwing it away.

I have found that trypophobia is not only a source for disgust but also of aggression. If I see anything that triggers this issue I will endeavour to remove it from existence. Should I ever see an animal with holes in its skin I will kill it on the spot. I don't care how endangered it is.

And thank all the gods that the Suriname Toad is in danger of losing its habitat.

in a weird tist of phobias I am nervous about knifes but the phobia does not extend to pocket/butterfly knives or daggers/swords for some weird reason :/ so mostly kitchen and hunting knives.. (please note it doesn't stop me from using said knives while cooking they just make me weirdly nervous)

I am also terrified of wasps/hornets like to the point of flipping out if one lands near or on me..

I also cant stand the sound of metal on concrete or the feel of the seam some socks have

Getting shocked, I hate it especially since it happens to me all the time. I actually was getting shocked so often and painfully that I now have a permanent hesitation to grabbing doorknobs or anything metal that I think could shock me. I actually can't even stop doing it, for example when I have to open a door I'll very quickly tap the knob it's just a habit I can't stop doing at this point.

I've actually gotten shocked so badly on a car door handle before the driver on the other side of the car could hear it. We'd just gotten out and I put my hand on the inner handle and they heard the actual shock.

I'd like to thank you all for giving me the name of that fear, I saw a picture of a girl with it where she had stones in her knees arms and legs and it just freaked me the fuck out, but the absolute worst picture I've ever seen was someone made a photoshop of a sharks open mouth in their fingers, for some reason that made me lose it. I had to actually close my laptop and just walk away, I dunno why either I've looked at other pictures of plants and stuff that would be issues for people with trypophobia and it wasn't a problem for me.

Polystyrene/styrofoam drives me crazy. As does cotton...the noises...I spaz out just imagining it.

It isn't a phobia, but I can't stand the stuff. Any object that can make a high-pitched squeaky noise when torn or rubbed together.
There's actually a reason for that: those sounds have a lot of power in the 2-4kHz band, which our ears are a bit too good at amplifying. If you filter a recording of them to remove that band, it's much more tolerable. Also works on voices which give you a headache, too.

My weirdest phobia is "What Does the Fox Say," by Ylvis.

There was a time when my mental issues were getting the best of me. I quit my job and spent nine months alone in my home, not visiting people or talking to them on the phone or interacting with them in anything more complex than a customer/cashier relationship. Maybe it's what was going on with my brain or maybe it's that I fell out of practice with speaking and thinking because I didn't speak to anyone, but whatever it was, I got very weird during that time in ways I can't really explain. My thoughts and speech took on a kind of logic that was unique to me and incomprehensible to anyone else.

Every time I hear "What Does the Fox Say," the way that man gibbers on and on about what almost seems to be nothing at all but that definitely has some kind of tenuous, tortured connection running through it that I feel like I could almost understand if I was just a little less sane...

I know that the song is supposed to be a satire of meaningless bullshit pop songs. I don't care. That song reminds me of what it's like to be losing my mind. It freaks me out, and I'm glad the fad of playing it on the radio has blown over.

Man, I got bit by one of those. Arm swelled up twice its size. I get them in my house anywhere from Summer to Winter. There was a point where I was killing three to four a night! Did you know they are cannibals? I killed one in my bathroom one night, came back an hour later, killed another one, came in the bathroom a third time, saw another one munching on one of the corpses.

But if I had to pick a phobia, I'd go with bugs in general. The only one I'm cool with are bees, mainly because of what they do with pollination and honey. Everything else can go fuck itself.

Well great. Why on earth did i google that god damned frog. Definitly makes me feel uneasy lookin' at that. Good to know that fear exists <.<

Actually i'm afraid of something sillier: Ants.
When there are a certain undefined number of ants around me, i really have to keep my mind focused else i'd flee screaming. This has an origin though.

When i was little (~6 years old) we went to Spain for our holidays and one morning i woke up with a tingling feeling all over my body. It felt strange and unfamiliar, so i liften the blanket... just to find out hundreds of ants crawled into my bed through the window over night.
I was literally covered in ants. I guess i've never screamed as much in my life.

Since then every last subject of that species will instantly be utterly destroyed if it gets on my radar.

I have a huge phobia of squid and octopuses, but that's not too unusual- they are pretty alien after all.

Other than that, I really hate stickers or wet paper and can't stand having either on my skin, I'm not really sure why. The sensation, or even imagining the sensation makes me wretch, I've no idea why I find it so disgusting.
Well shit, so the paper/stickers thing isn't just me. Bit of a relief honestly, though I really shouldn't be surprised. Especially when people eat paper I have to try VERY hard to not vomit. Just... UGH! (primary school was very traumatic in that respect).
It applies to the.... tin? (is it tin?) lids they have to stuff like pudding too. I think it's just the texture of these things. Pudding, melted then solidified american cheese, wet paper etc. The idea of that feeling is just absolutely disgusting (less so depending on my mood, but anywhere near the mouth and just... nope.).

Oddly enough, I find such things interesting. Like I want to rub my hand over it and feel the texture or see whatever was inside of it get squeezed out, like a blackhead.

Wow that sounds really fucking weird when I say it. Maybe this is what it's like to have a fetish that few share (minus the sexual arousal). Thank god none of my friends know my escapist account name (except one, but he's across the country so I'm good).

I am terrified of spiders. That isn't weird, it's one of the most common phobias. What's weird is the extent to which the phobia effects me. I can't handle photos of spiders and even just detailed drawings of spiders really freak me out. Obviously this means video game spiders are out of the question as well, which is bad news for me because my favorite genre is fantasy RPG, and someone apparently made it a law at some point, that all fantasy RPGs must contain giant spiders. It's so severe that I actually had a panic attack while playing Dragon Age Origins, when I got ambushed by spiders in the beginning of the Dalish elf origin story. I started shaking and had trouble breathing and had to close my eyes and hit the power button on my PC, because I couldn't bear to look at the screen for even a second. I loved playing Path of Exile but I know that act 2 is when spiders start showing up, so as far as I'm concerned, Path of Exile only has one act. Whenever I want a game, I have to check GameFAQs first, to find out if it has spiders in it, and then I have to YouTube those sections, to determine if I'd be able to handle it. It's really bad. There are lots of great games that I'll either never play or never finish, purely because of spiders. I think the spiders in Nier are the only ones I managed to brave my way past, and that's only because there are only two in the whole game. Even then, the only way I could beat them was to close my eyes and just blindly attack

Only weird one I have is beautiful women, I'm single and to me they represent depression since I've never been on a date or kissed and I'll turn 24 next month. Just thinking about it makes me want to drink or smoke which is my coping mechanism.

I'm in the trypophobia club as well, and yeah, not only is there "get it away before I fear-puke" aspect, but I just want to grab a flamethrower and PURGE THE UNCLEAN.

I theorize there are two explanations for this combo. Either we view the triggers as visual cues of intense disease/corruption, or us trypophobics are tapping into the genetic memory of our ancestors that fought the horrorterrors in ancient times. Or both Q_Q

sharks. just any kind really, hell seeing sharks in games freaks me the hell out.

I still remember the first time I saw someone sucking at DDR in the Mall, I nearly fell over onto the floor because when you're close to failing out it'll randomly change from showing whatever psychodelic light show it normally has to show bright flashing red lights and a huge shark face snapping at you as if to say: "HERE'S A HUGE TERRIFYING SHARK! HOPE YOU DON'T MESS UP EVEN MORE! OOOOOOOH!" thanks for the nightmares DDR

I think it's obvious what has happened, because of your cursed bloodlines, you see the visions your ancestors had of the Old Ones and their sunken city filled with horrors from beyond the veil of time and space
