ONIONS! I hate ONIONS! The smell, the taste, the sight and the way they make your eyes burn! Curse the mortal who thought to pluck that damn shrub out of the ground and eat it.

crowds of people in regular situations. It scares the crap out of me to be in the mall or church if there's a lot of people there, funnily enough had no problems with this at pax which had far more people don't know why.

My normal fear (I think it's fairly normal) is hugely deep water, like the ocean. My annoying and omnipresent stupid fear, as per this thread, is fucking ants. My god, I hate them and freak out when I see them. I love spiders, snakes, most insects, whatever, but ants piss me the hell off and as soon as I know they're around I will kill every one I can find. And then feel slighty bad about it.

Odontophobia...

Fear of sitting in a chair while a masked madman labours in your mouth with a drill.

I was 13. The dentist said it wouldn't hurt. It hurt. I broke his nose. Didn't see another one for 13 years. Then I paid about 1300?.

I'm afraid of cockroaches more than any other creature, though not to the point of a phobia. They are absolutely disgusting.

Styrofoam.

I hate Styrofoam.

The way is squeaks subtly when you break it apart, the feeling of it rubbing against things, it sends chills up my spine. It is like agony. When I have to touch Styrofoam, I feel like Psycho Mantis without his mask.

Polystyrene/styrofoam drives me crazy. As does cotton...the noises...I spaz out just imagining it.

It isn't a phobia, but I can't stand the stuff. Any object that can make a high-pitched squeaky noise when torn or rubbed together.
Same here. Even just thinking about it makes my skin crawl. My kingdom for a different packaging material!

Talking to shopkeepers. I just... ugh. I hate it. I hate talking to anyone in retail. Or really, anyone I don't know.

And yet, I'm an extroverted person when I'm around people who I'm close to, or are friends with. So, I'm not one of those idiots on Tumblr making a big deal about how awesome reading is and staying in on the weekends and other stereotypical introverted things are.

..Would you call that selective introversion?

It does get particuarly awful when I'm buying something, because I have trouble registering commands, or understanding instructions, or whatever, usually if they're given to me directly. I just can't do it. I hate it.

I also hate being apologised too, because I feel like it's my fault, and they're just sayiing sorry to be polite.

Oh, and deap see fish. I like fish - I find them fascinating, but there's a few that I fucking hate, like blob fish or sea pigs. I just completely stop functioning.

I do have a friend who's got a phobia against gas planets though. I guess that's pretty weird.
How in the hell does one come to realize that? Does the very idea make him/her uncomfortable?

OT: Mine just sounds mean - but I'm extremely uncomfortable seeing burns on people. Like, serious burns; the kind that nothing can really be done about. I just feel suddenly uncomfortable and hot. Working it a burn ward would be an absolute nightmare to me.

It's about the idea of landing on it, or it colliding with the earth. I didn't dig for details, but yeah, it is kinda weird.

Polystyrene. I can't stand touching it, even writing about it gives me the shivers.

I also have a problem with open doors, I feel much better with doors closed, I guess it's related to open spaces.

I also feel the same way, and it isn't the noise it makes for me, it's just how they feel when you touch them, can't stand even thinking about it.

Touching fish, and especially being in the water with a fish, no matter how small, with any amount of skin exposed. I've run screaming from the sea because I spotted fish less than an inch long before. This extends to fish skin on my food as well.

It's a problem, because I love being in the sea, have a real interest in sealife and dream of becoming a marine biologist, and enjoy eating seafood. It literally makes no sense at all. I've been working on overcoming the phobia, and in the last few months I have just about got to the point where I can peel the skin off a piece of smoked mackerel without completely freaking out.

I know it sounds ridiculous, but such is the nature of phobias, I guess.
This was what I was going to say almost to a tee. I'm perfectly fine with looking at fish, but the second there's any chance of them coming in contact with me I freak out. We had a fish tank for more than 5 years and I could never bring myself to reach into it when something needed cleaning. And we had guppies. Guppies.

Seen above: aberrant monstrosity

The only way I can go about swimming in a lake is by convincing myself that there are no fish in it. Any evidence to the contrary and me and the lake need some time apart

I have Ménière's Disease which can cause unusual sensitivity to sound. In my case I am unable to comfortably listen to music. It elicits the same kind of fight or flight response as a crowd would for an agoraphobe. The phobia itself is called melophobia or melody-phobia. I am essentially afraid of music. But its more like an anxiety uncomfortableness sorta tenseness in my chest.

Dead girls, specifically the sort seen in Ju-on The Grudge.
It used to be a lot worse, but it's all I can think of right now. It probably says something that this image is my desktop, however.

getting separated from my party in a Winco/Fred Meyer-like store. Unless I've made it a point to go off and find something.

It's from childhood where I actually cried once. I still get uneasy from it.
