Mine is Baldur's Gate.

It pissed me off so much I had to just kill it. It first pissed me off when I took too long to wade through the fuck ton of menus, to reach a certain point and the elf who was with me said I was taking too long, and it had to take me out of all the menus to do that.
Then he told me to right click a scroll and I did for ages and he kept telling me to hurry up. When I found the right scroll in some horrible sub menu somewhere. I had to learn about thieves and the like.

Upstairs there is this rancid ***** who tells you to pick pockets, turns out the pick pocket sign looks like the character for infinity, would it have killed them to highlight it? throughout my search I was told to hurry up, this began to induce some rage. Then after I had stolen properly I was told to look for a trap and disarm it. After being told to hurry up a few times after that I decided to escape the tutorial cretins and have a baptism by fire in the main game.

What is the absolute worst tutorial you lot have suffered through?

Go play the Crusader Kings II tutorial, its literally broken, it wil grey out buttons which arnt needed but will ask you to press one of them (which you cant because its greyed out), and considering its a rather complex game, having a working tutorial would help a fair bit

I don't know if Driver's starting mission was a bad joke. There is a good chance it's one of the harder missions in the game. And you can't continue if you don't pass is.

Edit: For you who haven't played it, you're in a parking garage and the game demands that you cram a number of pretty difficult maneuvers into a very limited time. Unless you pass it, you can't continue the game.

Kingdom Hearts 2

That fucking tutorial nearly crippled the game right out of the gate. The most boring characters you can imagine in the most boring setting ever conceived, doing the most boring quests known to man.

Eve online when I tried it out a couple of years ago. I was expecting Freelancer as an MMO. Instead I got the WORST tutorial on accounting I have ever seen. Sometimes I still have nightmares about the menus with tiny icons and tiny letters and tiny buttons *shudder*

I never beat that mission myself. All you can do is free-drive around the first city, which isn't much really.

Amusingly Driver: San Franscisco has a re-creation of that mission as an optional side mission (that you don't have to do), which you unlock by stealing a Delorean and driving it at 88mph :)

Super robot taisen original generation. It didn't explain it too way nor did it really give you tip or suggestion. I struggle really hard at the start of the game (didn't knew where to invest the stuff into like the mech or pilot upgrades).

The worst tutorial is the one I cannot skip, and it is a sin committed by far too many games to count. Games that force me to play a tedious introduction introducing mechanics I already know about any time I want to replay the game are the worst. They are literally AND figuratively Hitler, that's how bad they are. They transcend time and space in an ultimate Godwin of pure frustration.

Agreed, they seriously put me off replaying anything, having to go through that BS again.

I actually hate all tutorials, let me figure out the buttons and game mechanics for myself or provide a manual. With FPS, we already know that R1 is shoot, R2 or L2 are grenades, L1 is aim, etc, copy paste from CoD. If it has to provide help then hints are fine as long as they can be disabled.

Yeah unskippable tutorials are bullshit. I can never remember what they tell me after about half an hour anyway... considering most games are fairly standardised these days, they're redundant for the most part...

Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon. Jesus Christ, that tutorial pissed me off to no end. I felt like all it was doing was making fun of me and gamers in general.

Actually? I don't think I've played one that annoyed me more than Assassins Creed. When I first played it, it was helpful and cool and all. Every other time it has done nothing but waste twenty minutes or so of my life. But the only problem is simply that you cannot skip.

I spent about 3 full days trying to beat that, always kept failing the slalom and the 360... The entire rest of the game was so much easier, though. I never understood why the tutorial was so hard in the first place.

I'll go with Kingdom Hearts one. Kingdom Hearts II had the long boring tutorial, but the first game took forever to get started. At least Kingdom Hearts II had the prestige of the first game, we knew we would step into Sora's crazy big shoes again. In the first game however, the beginning felt like a chore(as did KH II) and the character's didn't prove themselves to be the interesting ones we would come to love until much later on.

I will say while I liked Zelda: Skyward Sword's tutorial for setting up the mood and story for the game, it went on way too long and felt patronizing, the same could be said for Twilight Princess too.
