A couple of my friends gets mixed up between "lose" and "loose", one of them gets mixed up with "seems" and "seams", and I haven't seen anybody (excluding members of The Escapist) spell "definitely" correctly in my whole life. Except maybe English teachers.

One of mine: I'd been spelling the abbreviation of "were not" as "wern't" instead of "weren't".

EDIT: Just realised the guy above me made the "lose" and "loose" mistake. That. Is. Hilarious.

It doesn't matter how many times I look it up, I always forget the rule of how to spell neccesary.

Even now, it may or may not be wrong. It has gotten to the point, where I will change sentences to avoid that word.

I've heard that rule before, but in my confusion, I'll remember it and I'll also remember 1 shirt, 2 cuffs and then I'll wonder which is correct.

I will try to use it correctly in the forum somewhere today.

Well then just think of "2 girls, 1 Cup". At least you get the 1 'C'.

I thought the phrase was: "I don't know you from atom" for the first 20 years of my life.

I used to write 'cought' instead of 'caught'... that stupid mistake wouldn't let me out of its grasp for years and I remember it costing me an A on at least two occasions when I was still in school.

I almost always seem to confuse the word "necessary". It gets more confusing when I have to write "unnecessary". And "necessitate". Yeah, even now I used a spellchecker to write these words correctly.

Actually that one got me for quite a while, but I have a spell-checker for all my posts now, so I'm slowly clearing all of my old mistakes up.

Necessary - one c two s's.

I get my theres and theirs wrong all the time. I *do* know which one is for which situation, but when I'm typing that goes out of my head. I often completely forget that their(?) is even more than one type :(

I kept expecting to be able to get my word in through verbal debate, outside of the Internet where I can write long posts without any interruption. Big mistake. Only formal debates allow for a proper amount of time.

I've always spelled "suprisingly" instead of "surprisingly".
And you were correct the first time. Google it. The "r" goes before the "p". Yo're doing it wrong right now.
You're wrong at telling me that I am wrong. "Surprisingly" is the correct version.
That's what I just said! Reread how you wrote it! You probably just thought what you were saying backwards.

I said that I've always said "suprisingly" - the wrong version instead of the right version - "surprisingly"

I think I may be slightly dyslexic, because there are certain words I mis-spell no matter how many times I try to memorise them.

They are:

Dissappoint

Poffessional

Reccommend

Friend

I used to think that it was scrapnel instead of shrapnel, which kind of makes sense when you think about it. I also recently learned how to spell weird and necessary.

Also, I got in criticized in english class a lot because I prefer the british spelling of words like armour and colour.

Edit:

Also I recently went off at my ex about how she's a self-righteous manipulative ibicile with no common sense and a lot of other mean words, and all she had to say about that was "You spelled imbecile wrong."
