Really? Why? (Not trying to be a dick about it, just genuinely interested is all.)
for me it's because he's de-demonizing the characters by making them all humans basically. that's what i like about MK, all the different realms and walks of life. changing Baraka from a tarkatan warrior into a black plastic surgeon who went crazy is just bad taste. and the same goes for reptile and scorpion.

Well I really liked it. It was nice to see a live-action game adaptation not get restrained by its source material. It took risks and realistic interpretations of a relatively corny world, and I think it really paid off. I'd personally encourage such behavior in the future.

I'd love for this to become a movie. A dark, gritty Mortal Kombat might be enough to challenge the notion that game-movies are inherently sub-par.

Ahh, what we have here is a difference of opinion. Same view, but I find it a positive thing.

I really don't understand why people are so averse to re-imagining their origins. I don't see the point in telling exactly the same story in every medium.

I'd compare Nolan's Batman films with the excellent animated series. The latter retained the fantastical elements and made them work in what was a fairly dark kid's show. (I hate using that term because there's plenty there for anyone to enjoy, but that was the intended audience so I concede the point.) The former wouldn't have worked nearly as well had the fantastical elements been left in. That's not to say an off-the-wall live action spectacle couldn't work for Batman, but nevertheless I'm really glad we got to see Nolan's interpretation of it.

This looks like it's getting the same treatment Batman got under Nolan. That's why I'm excited. I'm sure a good director could make something fantastic with all of the supernatural elements left in but this could be a compelling twist on the franchise.

I thought that was some teaser trailer for a future movie...

But future web series...? I guess that's just a minor disappointment.

Well this definitely isn't the first time a smash hit came to be because of an oops.

Don't get too depressed. What cheaper way to feel out the audience on a new Mortal Kombat movie than the web? This is a win for Warner Bros for sure, and I give them bonus points for seeing it for what it is. An opportunity and free-to-cheap press.

Good point. It just I guess kills the whole majestic WOW aspect behind it all for me. To discover it wasn't ever even intended to be a movie? Makes me feel like it's not going to come out the gate with the same sort of gusto the little youtube clip had.
