When I am in charge of a corporation, before marketing gets to suggest any names, they' have to google it. If any porn comes up in the first 5-10 results we scrap the name.
Man, your company is not going to be to name any products at all.

Ugh, youtube just keeps getting worse. I bet they're pushing it now because adblock plus broke recently for some reason.

I bet the ads will get worse too. http://www.smbc-comics.com/?id=2490.

Yeah...No thanks Google, next to nothing that interests me is on that stupid site and I barely have any million+ subscriptions to (AJ and Boogie come to mind out of 70+) so it's useless.

Also an utter waste of my money as well.

Oh YouTube, bless your heart. No-one's going to pay for your shit.

Download videos? Why bother when I can use a third party application to do that anyway? Failing that, I'll just fullscreen and use ShadowPlay to record my desktop. No ads? Please, I white-listed the site so the few people I do watch on the regular can get paid. And as for your "exclusive content"... Nice try, but I'm not biting. You're gonna need better bait. Also, good luck beating the people that will download/screen capture those videos, then upload them elsewhere for people to watch.

It's almost like this was designed by committee and you didn't even think this through. Amazing.

As an update to my last post here, the same youtuber took to twitter and checked stuff. Thinking that he was wrong because of some information that he was pointed to he Privated his original video.

However, on further inspection it appears that Google is changing the information given out about YoutubeRed after the product's release to make it more vague, and so he has reinstated the original video because the updated information google is giving out supports it and he has also put out an update video explaining in detail what has happened.

This thing is a complete mess in every way now... They can't even give out clear information on their website about it.

SO many people commenting on the similarity to Redtube (all over the internet, that is) and not one decision-maker at Google thought of it? What sheltered lives they doth lead.

Premium content vidoes of the same stuff we previously got for free?
I really don't like where this is headed...

They could save this by making the premium content stuff that would normally be shut down by youtube like full episodes of tv shows or movies but that doesn't seem to be the case here. It's instead trying to hold the more popular content hostage.

I hate this.

I guess it would be asking too much to give those videos timed exclusivity like people do with Patreon content.

What they'll need though is a lot of content creators to produce exclusive stuff, as that is the only part of the service that could get me interested.

The problem is that I don't view content from those announced at the moment, when it's free, why would I pay for exclusive PewDiePie content when I find him highly annoying.

I can already download videos with programs on my computer (or on my phone) which have the ability to turn them into .mp3s for me to listen to, they've killed the download and music options part of the deal.

This is indeed interesting, I thought it was a good idea because I would be supporting the people I watch. If it is diluted across youtube then that is less attractive to me. Although it should still boost the people in the eyes of youtube which (many may disagree) I think may be the next "battle" coming up.

Honestly, the fact that Youtube let Netflix beat them to the punch on original content has always struck me as one of the biggest mistakes they made. It reminds me of how Meg Whitman screwed up with eBay and didn't bother to roll out in several lucrative markets until it was too late (with Japan probably being their single biggest mistake - they lost to fricken Yahoo! of all people).

I think its late in the game to sell this now, especially with all those *cough* other means of dealing with ads. <.<

See if they don't get PewDiePie and the 9 others in the top 10 to go along with this, its sunk. Between those 10 they are subscribed to by what, nearly 40% of YouTube?
That's enough to greenlight or redlight ANY new project.
according to jim sterling, 99% of content networks have signed up for this because they were given a choice of sign up or your videos are gone. [http://www.thejimquisition.com/2015/10/youtube-red-a-promising-plan-plastered-in-piss/]

Yeeeeeeeeeeah I'll pass Youtube. Your parents Google already make enough money in general. I'm not giving them a $10 fucking dollar subscription just to skip 5 second ads.
Hah, you really think they will keep letting you skip those ads now that they want to force you to pay for subscription? your going to be watching 2 minutes of ads for a 40 seconds clip once this gets through.
