I watch all the Let's Play videos made by the Achievement Hunter crew. They're all pretty funny, but the two they did while playing Worms are absolutely hilarious.

Edit:
Eh, why not? I'll post'em. :3

I follow a couple of Youtubers, including some 'famous' ones: TotalBiscuit, Game Grumps, and PewdiePie, for example, though I've been shying away from PewdiePie lately. I also follow a couple of smaller, newer channels, if they interest me enough.

I agree completely that the market is over-saturated, though.

Edit: And I watch Achievement Hunter, because they're fucking hilarious. Their 2012 Olympics Let's Plays were incredible.

Yay! You're the only other Creature Fan i've met here so far.
I don't understand why there aren't more Creature Cats on here. Though, I do remember someone with a James (Nova) Avatar on the forums. Then again, maybe they're too busy, what with SSoH's upload sprees. And Nova taking awhile on his own uploads sometimes.

I remember when I first encountered LP's.
It seemed like some time ago they seem to be focused more on just playing and showing you the game, and not talking and forcing bad jokes.

Wish they'd go back to that. LP's where invaluable to me when deciding if I wanted a game or not.

I've been watching let's plays for ages now, I don't think they're a new thing at all. Could've increased in popularity recently though, I suppose, I doubt I'd notice. :p

It's obvious that some people only got into it because there's an audience (see: ad revenue) for it, and it's a little sad to see that regular people that do it because they care are overshadowed by Youtube "celebrities".

It's like pop music, really.
I know that feeling all too well.
I did a quality LP of DMC3 and excelled above most Lps of it.

Only problem was that the shitty lp got the spotlight because, A) She was more famous
B) Everyone was going nuts about a girl playing DMC3

and what infuriated me was that her fans were fucking rabid when I was laughing how every boss kicked her ass.

so yeah I'm somewhat bitter I averaged 2000 views when she averaged 30000
yeah them celebrity fans really get rabid I was watching azuritereactions play through ai-oni (or amnesia it was something popular) and every video has someone calling him a pewdie pie rip off and he got called a rip off of mikenuemonic cause he's been doing a LSD dream emulator playthrough too I'm kinda annoyed by it even more so when the celebrity says "we don't like it when you go out attacking people"
also what is your account I am curious to watch someone new

eh could be any number of reasons. They were some of the first LPs I watched so for that reason I like them. I enjoy their personalities although sometimes they get really personal with their 'haters' when I wish they would just ignore them. I like to watch for the games.

Also some people really are just in it for the game but they take it to a whole different level trying to get really hands on with their fans with the Creature Streams and such. I enjoy them but I can see why people would try to avoid them. Anyways it's fine i'll keep watching as long I keep laughing and having new content to watch.

I do/have followed some Let's Players, and enjoy what they do. I love Game Grumps and Freelance Astronauts (who unfortunately aren't really active on youtube anymore--and I can't stand one of the commentators they have with them on their more recent LPs (irregularhunter)).

I followed Achievement Hunters' LPs for a while but gave up after it became almost nothing but yelling at Gavin. I also used to follow Spoiler Warning, but again sort of gave up after I got sick of one of the commentators (Rutskarn) and how they went off on a fan-gasm tangent over Half-Life 2 (which I didn't find interesting because I don't think HL2 is that great).

Preciate it.

It's
Youtube.com/MadaraXIII

The LPs I've done so far are

- Shadow of the Colossus
- DMC3 (One with Dante and one with Vergil)
- Vanquish
- Viewtiful Joe
- Asura's Wrath (A bit of Rage there, just because how Hype the game got me)
- MvC2
- UMVC3
- Skull Girls
- Naruto Generations

Plus Random Parodies on the side to keep my fans entertained between LPS

that and I'm finishing Portal, so there's bound to be an LP you'll particularly like.
Regardless the fans of the celebrities bother me more than the celebrities themselves considering I've talked with NintendoCapriSun and Lancun and those guys are at least down to earth dudes.

Well, there's a difference between LPers who can provide relevant commentary and be funny and interesting and people who jump on any bandwagon and provide nothing but useless videos en mass to attract the lowest common denominator. Scare cam bullshit being the latest trend, because apparently pretending to be scared at not too scary games and breaking my ear drums with your terrible fake screams is the hot new thing.

My little brother does Minecraft lets plays with his friends. He's 12, I think that says enough about the quality of them. If you think you have the stomach, I dare you to watch them without cringing or closing out within 10 seconds. Yes, that's my dad in the background on a work call throughout most of the video. I know he's just having fun, but... good God!

In case you couldn't tell from my avatar, I like the Creatures, particularly Seamus. He was one of the very first Lpers I started watching along with his royal freshness, Vash. I find them both very funny, Seamus for his dry sarcasstic sense of humor and inside jokes, and Vash for being one entertaining fool. I'll also watch people like Diction, Chilled, Dex, Hutch and Seananners.

Relatively new channel's popped up (and by new, I mean more 'Recently Partnered' than anything else, the guy did rants before,) is ChristopherClever; I've started watching his videos more and more often, in part because he reminds me of a lot the aspects of Pewdiepie that I enjoy, with a similar style to him, but he isn't QUITE as high-strung, and therefore doesn't hurt my ears as much. D: And he even has some pretty good one-liners. xD

If anyone checks it out, and subscribes, totally should tell him ArtorAut sent ya. <.<

Also, sweet Jebas, you guys are ACTIVE. xD Most forums I come back after a couple of days, get three or four replies, but you guys keep picking up my threads and running away giggling with em. I like you guys. Marry me. :3 We'll find a church big enough! <_<

I don't mind LP's as long as I get a laugh outta them, so mainly the Yogscast and Toby can't fathom how PewDiePie is so popular though the guy annoys the hell outta me and most of his fan base are annoying rabid douchebags as well.

I like LPs because well with Catherine for example I don't have the game, but I played it through the host.

Got as far as 'extremely handsome Dovahkin humping this tree' and went 'ERP, TIME TO MOVE ON!'

Anyway, OT, or similar to it, I do sometimes run into a similar frustration, even though I don't do Let's Plays on my channel; rather, I do a sort of vlogging meets social commentary schtick, pull up news stories and discuss them, what have you, try to give them a funny twist and while there are a few other comment...ators... I quite enjoy, I occasionally stumble on others, very popular ones even, that just drive me entirely up the ****ing wall. All swearing and hollaring and chest puffing, acting like egotists, and still getting tens of thousands of views, and people all but throwing themselves at their feet, and my brain just goes 'WAT. DOES NOT COMPUTEZ.'

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I think my material is pure spun gold; my visual style is non-existent, given I use a black screen and white captions for jokes to run parallel to what I'm saying. (I'm camera shy, shut up.) But still, seeing some of these popular vloggers, who basically sit and chat at the camera without so much as a little skit or funny voice, I find myself in the unexpected position of thinking 'No matter how low-quality my video is... I still put MORE work into it than they did, damnit!' xD

Eh, be reeeeally convenient if all the other people in my video field could just vanish off the face of the planet, go to another dimension or get abducted by aliens. ._. Then I could be King. Kiiiing.

I actually found myself cringing and hovering over the exit button... christ that was not very good.

I like let's plays.

I tend to stick to Screenshot LPs tho; Video LPs tend to not be very good. Or are just exercises in money making. It's horrific.

I watched an LP of Dead Space (not a fan of horror so it's not a game I would ordinarily play) because it apparently has a good story, and the LPer was apparently really good. And he was really good, I enjoyed watching his Dead Space LP. He had a good speaking manner, a nice voice, he was pretty amusing, and often explained what he was doing and why.
My gripe with it and with him is the fact that I would either have to watch a stupid long ass 5 minute add EACH video, or suffer through 2 shorter ads at the beginning and 2 ads at the end of each video just because the guy wanted to make a bit of cash from the LPing thing.
It was frustrating; and it put me off watching his other LPs.

I quite like Veriax however; he has a nice voice and a fun play manner. Plus he LPs games I actually like. Another LPer I REALLY want to like cos he plays games I like is GrimithR but he has a really grating voice, waffles a hell of a lot, doesn't really go into the "whys" of what he is doing, and is no where near as funny as he thinks he is.
So I find it really difficult to get into his LPs.

I also like a few of the more tolerant/funny LPers on the Something Awful forums.

EDIT:
Just watched that Game Grumps Emerald Lets Play video posted above... And that's precisely the kind of LP I don't like.

Excessive swearing, Childish humour, loud brash voices.

Basically all in all that video made me think that the guys were a pair of douchebags who LP for money. lol.

Not fun. Or funny.

The only LPer I watch is Xcalizorz, who is mainly known for COD but I don't think anybody pushes out more videos than Xcal.

He has done or doing, DMC (not sure which one), saints row the third, god of war 3, god of war 2, MGS 1,2 and 3, puts out a lot of cod videos, dayZ, Diablo 3, assassins creed 2, resident evil 5, Arkham city, Bioshock, Deus Ex:HR, dead island, Borderlands, mass effect 2&3 (single and multi player), Arkam Asylum, New vagas and dabbled in a few others (such as perfect dark and killing floor)

They are all fairly recent videos as well.

He can go from shit talking and belittling his victims on COD to telling you the best builds and tactics on mass effect 3 multi player.

yogscast, pewdiepie and another fucker who does nothing but happy wheels, minecraft, slenderman and amneisa (although that has died off now) can go very far away! I am so sick of hearing or even seeing anything minecraft related ... any UK person will understand this reference, it's worse than the go compare advert when it was new.
