Wasn't sure if this thread had time-traveled or something when I first out of boredom clicked the link. While the posts seemed to confirm my suspicions the dates on the posts matched. Confused I sat down. Finally I decided that screw it and registered an account to post with.

I would still say put some Blue Eyes in, especially if you have Decoy Dragon. You have no idea how many times I've screwed people over by having a face down Decoy Dragon and three Blue Eyes in my deck.

Now if the game rules haven't changed drasticly since I stopped playing a year ago that move is illegal. Decoy dragons effect cannot activate while facedown and here's why. The card specifies that decoy dragons effect activates if it's selected as an attack target. The problem is that decoy dragon gets selected before he actually gets attacked. Had it been a flip-effect the move would have worked but due to the conditions you miss your oppurtinity because facedown cards cannot activate their effects unitl they've been flipped unless there are special conditions stated on the card.


Does this mean that you're an idiot? Not really.
It simply means that the rules of this game are so ridicolously complicated that you have to be a freaking veteran at it to be able to even barely understand how it works without consulting a case by case manuel for almost every single damn effect.

Oh and to op. Avoid monsters that require 2 or more tributes outside of dedicated decks and you'll be fine.

Everyone here forgot my favorite new magic card double summon.

Saves all the time in the world.

got double summon and chain summon (activate as part3 of a chain or higher and you can normal summon up to 3 monsters his turn) plus if then I activate double summon 4 normal summons in one turn plus 2 limit impulse to start the chain means I will have 4 sacrifice-able tokens and 4 normal summons in one turn. I also have a hero emerges (when the opponent attacks he has to randomly pick a card in your hand if it is a monster special summon it. if not send it to the graveyard.) and soul exchange so I can sacrifice an opponents strong monster to summon my own strong monster. also rope of life to summon a monster pack from the grave with and 800 attack bonus. I have many cards that let me summon monsters back from the grave so I also have temple of the sun to increase their attack by 300 (a great combo is when your opponent destroys felgrand activate rope of life plus temple of the sun and pick a level 8 in may grave means he will get a 2700 attack boost nearly doubling his attack (this means a total of 5500 attack and 2800 defence so ya my opponent is then screwed)). I'm sorry I went a bit of topic of what you said but ya just saying I think things through

ot:but anyway for your level fours luster dragon if im thinking of the right one has 1900 defence so quite good and easy to summon cave dwelling dragon high defence. dragon rage awsome burst breath good to ,stamping destruction and in the right surcumstances a wingbeat of giant dragon.

Or Red Eyes Black Skull Dragon either. But that would require Summoned Skull, if memory serves, and I don't think he wants Fiends in his Dragon deck.

Another one missing is Curse of Dragon. Combine that with Gaia the Fierce Knight and you have Gaia the Dragon Champion.

you see most of my cards can special summon monsters most of which can actually continuously special summon monsters. also I have a card that summons two sacrficable tokens without stopping me from summoning or any real down side (apart from it is a trap so I have to wait a turn). some of my cards actually get bonuses from being special summoned also I have temple of the sun and with me constantly summoning from the grave it is a great help. I made this deck before about three years ago and it kicked all kinds of ass but then I didn't have anyone to play with for one year and then I made a synchro deck and now I am going to revive my old deck and improve it so I can kick ass. so I know good cards for summoning monsters that need two or more sacrifices (one time I got 5 level 7/8 monsters on the field all with over 3500 attack without sacrificing a single monster.) all I need to know are some good cards for a beatdown swarm deck that I may not have thought of.

BTW thanks about that info about decoy dragon because me and my friend both use him so it will help balance the game and make it more fun.

it is only based around dragons it is not dragon exclusive it is mainly a beatdown swarm deck but I use dragons because from the cards I have he they are the best for this.

I know it's banned from regular tournament play, but playing for fun I suggest Chaos Emperor Dragon: Envoy of the End. drop 2 monsters from your graveyard and get a 3000/3000 dragon with the ability to wipe the field and your opponents hand (while dealing a nasty chunk of damage at the same time). Especially if you have some fellas like Masked Dragon who can leave you with some bigger buggers to attack with after the Envoy goes nuclear.

And it was released as a SE (unlike the other Envoy), so it shouldn't be too difficult to get a hold of.

I haven't played this in ages, but i remember that I've got a fire deck, based around them taking indirect damage, me special summoning, while i try and limit what they can actaully do to me.

It worked rather well most of the time.

It's special effect of changing to defence after causing damage is kinda sucky but it's a brilliant card to play if you get the second turn as in the first turn your opponent is more than likely going to throw down a monster in defence so a Spear Dragon can take out most 4 star or less defence monsters without trouble.

Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon.
Dragon decks (with a few exceptions, like Dragonzodia) should not be run without it.

Prime Material Dragon is very steady and hard to kill.
Kaiser Glider is a strong but overlooked card.

If you're going to run the Cyberdarks, wait until Dragunities are released.
They're weak right now, but they'll be so much stronger after those show up.

And to be honest, the approach this[footnote]

Your smaller monsters are important too.
Don't neglect them.

I know my smaller monsters are important it's just i am not sure what heavy hitters should be in my deck so that is why I am asking people (one time a made a level 3 and lower deck it also kicked ass but not nearly as much as my beatdown swarm deck.

Traps, lots of traps.

Get a decent deck of traps that can kill monsters and you will find that power levels are almost worthless

You are going to have to get alot of tutor cards and deck thinners as well as focus your deck around 1-2 heavy hitting dragons that stick to their own theme have cards that support their presence and safeguards them from being raped by a stable cookie deck that someone brought for 400 usd.

Because beatdown decks rely so heavily on beating their opponent down, a thunder monarch deck etc will severly hamper your ability to field these heavy hitters consistently.

A general rule of thumb is if if you have to normal summon 7 stars or higher monsters ever, its a bad deck because the card is already a -1 field and hand advantage depending on if the card is in your hand or on the field.

-1 in the hand because its useless and -1 on the field because you gave up two cards for it to hit the field.



So you want to focus on ways to get these heavies onto the field and then guarantee that they do damage, ceasefire heavy storm into triple cyber dragon power bond fusion summon is one such way.

you can do alot of wierd funky shit to get them out. such as foolish burial ressurection or remove from game into game rushes.

you can put staple cards such as nimble momonga, d.d soldiers and giant rats to stall and fetch each others while thinning the deck and spruce in the designed and appropriate fetch cards. The problem with that is a more dedicated staple will run it over so feel free to be independent in your card choices and just sacrifice more stable cards for cards that work better.

Regardless of how you design the deck you cant just put in heavy hitters and expect it to do great, you gotta support it with a firm and solid spell, trapcard and 1-4 star monster cards also a deck might not look that great in the beginning but playtesting and minor adjustements can really work wonders for it.

Do you want to use synchros or tribute monsters?
You can use both, but generally the focus will be on one or the other, as that yields better results.

I already have build the deck but their is just something missing that I am trying to figure out I think I may have too many cards in it (60) and that thinning it out a little will to the trick (as in only have one cyper dark till I get cyper dark dragon only having 1 tyrant dragon instead of two, removing lv3 and lv5 armed dragon (I don't have 7)and removing sun dragon and ant ascator till I have moon dragon) and adding one or two lv4 monsters that help me destroy some control monsters (eg adhesive explosive) what to you think of these changes.

it is based around tributes but I hate one or two tuners in it so I added some synchros they won't to any harm because they are in the extra deck meaning that I don't get a dead draw.

If you can you should try to get an Ancient Rules spell card. It allows you to summon a monster with over 4 stars without any sacrifices, saved my ass many times... Why do I still know this?
