I miss playing Yu-Gi-Oh. I still have my Dragon Deck, and I also had a warrior deck somewhere. I used to kick ass at it. Beat all my friends. I bet I suck now.
My friend runs Jurracs, I can beat him but they are SO SHINY!

And I'm calling zombie bullshit on the "no staples" statement. There's just so many staples for certain deck types that you have to use at least a few.
Depends what you mean exactly by 'Staple'. I sure use cards that are pretty necessary for Gemini's, but I don't use any splashable disruption cards (such as Mirror Farce or Bottomless Tarp Hoe). I don't like these sort of cards, they kind of spoil the game.
Good-day my fellow Escapists. I am here to talk about a serious matter indeed. I shall speak, of course, about children's card games. Now, I play Yu-Gi-Oh! (or duel monster's) and I love it. I am a 16 year old male having played for about 3 years now. Many of my friends play as well, and we each run different archetypes in our decks to keep things fresh. From this you should be able to derive my personal opinion on those wonderful little cards, which leads me to my full question:
What are your opinions on 'Children's Card Games'. Ie, do you play them? Why or why not? What would bring you to play them?
For all who may be interested, I run a pure Gemini deck, stapleless.
Monsters:
3x Dark Valkyria
3X Evocator Chevalier
2x Gemini Summoner
2x Crusader of Endymion
2X Blazewing Butterfly
2x Gemini Soldier
2x Featherizer
1x Grasschopper
1x Tuned Magician
1X Gemini Scorpion
1x Knight of the Red Lotus
1x Goggle Golem
1x Energy Bravery
Spells:
3x Unleash Your Power
3x Supervise
2x Gemini Spark
1x Foolish Burial
1x Metalsilver Armor
1x Wicked-Breaking Flamberge-Baou
1x Future Fusion
1x Dark Factory of Mass Production
1x Double Summon
Even though I mainly play MTG, during high school I played Yu-Gi-Oh a lot. I'm more old school type player who rarely uses the new types of cards like Synchro. Here are my decks:
1) Skill Drain: love nullifying effects and even has ways to stop special summons.
2) Ben Kai/matza equip deck: the only deck that has Synchros in it. But I don't rely on them
3) Crystal Beasts: Very fun swarm deck
4) King of Skull Servants: One of those long shot decks but is fun to play.
And I play them because they are fun to figure our how cards work together.
I played it way back when. I still have all the cards and my deck was a combination of Light, Dark, and Wind monsters. I used to have a Water deck with The Legendary Fisherman before I traded it for a Dark Magician Girl to make my last deck.
I'm certain that most of my deck is considered illegal for tournaments now.
Does anyone have a favorable opinion of the dark expansion / lightsworn era? That's when I finally quit the game. Due both to my lack of willingness to continue spending money and the introduction of cards that seemed pretty broken.

Well, I certainly like and am trying to attain the dark versions of monsters from that expansion to create a cool dark deck. And Dark Armed Draogn is one of the most used cards competitively. Lightsworn decks are also very popular.
I started playing Yu Gi Oh recently, good fun, even though I'm usually not sure whether to feel stupid or not when I say "I summon such and such a monster!". Feels awesome though.
