A couple of years ago some guy named @PurpleRain made a thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.79337-Purps-Does-Couver] in celebration of him visiting Vancouver. He asked for people to list things for him to do while over there.

Considering I'm going to visit him in December I think it's an idea to follow in his footsteps. Also - Nostalgia.

Ahem

Greetings all you hollowed beings. I, Sir Zenith the 2nd will depart my burnt hairy shores as of one month from now, heading off to Vancouver Canada. With me, I shall take the Journal of a madman catalouging my adventures and daring escapes from the fuzz.

So to keep this forum and community related and somewhat more fun for you guys, I want you (don't hide behind that screen) to throw at me, Missions, Dares and other Stuff for me to try and achieve while I'm over there. I have two weeks, little cash, and don't exactly wanted to be booted outside the country, so I won't do anything too insane. Also, I won't exactly be going on any real road trips across the country so seeing sites may be out of it.

Other than that, I will be providing updates, entries and pixs so you know it really happend.

- Zen.

Peace'n'junk =)

So no having sex with a mountie on a moose? Or you know... just the moose itself?

Count how many fucking Tim Hortons you come across. I hear theres like 1 every 3 blocks there. Like a canadian starbucks.
Oh and say "aboot" and "eh" a lot just to see if anyone smacks you.
Ooh yeah.. I will be testing my faux Canadian accent as much as I can.

Vancouver? I live in that place! As for interesting things to do.....I got nothing. Sure, it's nice, but there isn't much to do, as far as I know. Go to the aquarium? No...

What's the Science Centre about?

If its anything like the Science Centre in Australia it'll be a giant building with all these crazy activities. If so, fucking awesome

Lol. Vancouver guy here.
First of all, in Vancouver there are 10 Starbucks for every Tim Hortons. It expanded north from Seattle more than Timmy's expanded west from Ontario. Toronto is the place you're looking for if you're thinking about tons of those stores.

No one will smack you if you say eh, because everyone says it a lot. That being said... I know Americans that say it more than anyone here does. And aboot? I've never really heard anyone say that except people from Saskatchewan or Newfoundland. Sometimes I'll catch myself saying "aboat" but... ehh.

WALKTHROUGH OF VANCOUVER, BC BY OPIATE CHICKEN (no cheat codes in this guide srry)
Vancouver is one of the warmest, most liberal, beautiful and clean places in the world (well, warmest in relation to Canada, not so much the world) with one of the lowest crime rates. I'd be happy to meet up with you and find interesting adventures to do and stuff.

Anyway... you'll have a great time whatever you end up doing. (Just don't go to the downtown Eastside, everywhere other than there is great, it's just a 3 block radius to STAY AWAY from).

It's this.

It's pretty much what you said, one of the major landmarks.

-As for things to do, well, go to that globe.
-Maybe aquarium
-definitely Stanley Park/Sea Wall/English Bay at night
-Gastown and Yaletown, False Creek, Kitsilano/Westside, Wreck Beach (nude beach) if you can brave the cold
-Check out the mountains in North Vancouver (across the water from downtown) and the hiking trails and nature, notably Grouse Mountain. Take the SeaBus to get there, it's $2.50. I used to work there as a tour guide, people love it
-Amsterdam Cafe
-Probably too cold to surf right now.
-Check out nightlife on Granville St on Fridays or Saturdays
-EA's main offices are downtown and at BCIT in Burnaby
-Canucks/Giants
-Robson St shopping
-Starbucks
-Starbucks
-Starbucks
-???
-profit
-Check out some of the Olympic venues that were used. The Richmond Skating Oval, Pacific Coliseum, Rogers Arena (called Canada Hockey Place during Olympics), Cypress/Whistler, Olympic Village, etc.
-Sometimes there are meetups for people from this site or from 4chan that happen downtown at the corner of Granville and Georgia.

I guarantee you that if you check out all of the above stuff, you'll probably want to live here by the end of it. Come back in the summer for warm sunny weather, but even fall when it's rainy is kind of nice.

Bamp!

Anyways, I've got a list of stuff to do.

In no particular order.

Watch a Hockey game. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure all the live games are sold out, but I think it'll be just as fun to go to a bar and watch it.

Walk around in the mountains.

Walk around downtown a lot.

Avoid taking a photo of the steam clock.

Watch Canadian UFC welterweight champ fight. Again, I'll be seeing this in a Bar.

Spend a couple of days in Victoria. Theres an awesome Jiu Jitsu gym there, so I'm hoping on getting some lessons.

The fuckin' Science Centre.

Say as much Aussie slang as possible.

Club seals.

Visit the Amsterdam cafe.

See a bunch of live bands.

Not get eaten by a bear.

Mount a Mountie

Party.

C'mon guys. Tell me what to do on my holiday!!

I'm sure The UltraJoe is still waiting for his 11b [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.79337-Purps-Does-Couver?page=3#1021504] to take place.
If you really want to follow in his footsteps, I'd say fulfil the suggestions that Purps didn't manage to do on his visit.
Including the porno [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.79337.1011903]. Might want to change the title of it, though.

...Ahem.
In another conversational note, when do you leave?
I have no practical knowledge of Vancouver, other than that it's across the country from here and that they have pansy winters. However, depending when you go, you might not need to experience their extreme lack of snow. (What PurpleRain saw when he was there was, from my knowledge, a bit of an anomaly. Though, typical of Vancouver weather. Never sure if it wants to rain or snow, there.)

...Good luck on that one. Might take a while to find some.
Though, there are a few in the Vancouver Aquarium [http://www.visitvanaqua.org/visitors].
