As far as I can tell, it's a bunch of time travelers being handed a ball of timey-wimey stuff and trying to sort it out.

With a handful of cats that are both dead and alive laying around.

Prince of Persia wasn't that confusing... but it certainly got batshit crazy in Warrior Within, but I insist it wasn't confusing... Legacy of Kain on the other hand... that may be the very definition of confusing.
