I am 100% okay with this.
Quite true, but it is illegal to make porn games in Japan. DoA and games like these are about as close as they can legally get.

They have a fucking industry for that (pun intended). Even the only professional of notable size i know. What is not allowed is to show penetration, therefore genitals are pixelated or blanked out. Even in explicite games, that they indeed produce. Otherwise, some go to quite some (morally appalling) depth.

Otherwise freaken awesome video Yahtzee. A hilarious video, for you have no lost your touch in comedy yet!
I bet something like that happened in a Silent Hill game, or Catherine.

Closing shot - BAD IMP!

Anyone care to wager what's going to end up on top and bottom this year? Without re-watching, all I can think of is bottoms...

Bottom, in no order, more than 5:
Godzilla(preeeetty sure this is going to show up)
The Order : 1886(same as above)
Alone in the Dark : Illumination
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture
Star Wars : Battlefront
Rise of the Tomb Raider (character irritation factor)
Assassin's Creed Syndicate (franchise irritation factor)

Edit: Maaaaaybe Broken Age : Act 2 as well. From the review, sounds like the second half was phoned in. Switch the two characters, aaaaand... they just adjust perfectly? Bwuh?
I also liked the joke showing him holding a machete, staring down the FATAL FRAME box art with an American flag sticking out of it, before saying "Carry on."
As for his top/bottom (tee hee!) list, I wonder where Batman: Arkham Knight will be.

Which is why the tentacle was invented by the Japanese porn industry. A tentacle can look like a dong, squirt gooey stuff like a dong, be inserted into orifices like a dong, but the Japanese censors will look at it and go 'yes, only tentacles here, no dongs. This passes.'

That is very eye opening, thankyou for sharing. Was not aware of this at all.

Also, younger me really liked Project Zero 2, the only installment of this series i searched for and played. But knowing their pattern now, it brings certain things to light that are disheartening. But it starts to make sense.

In other words, this game should totally be on my "Newly-acquired Wii U" wishlist... after I'm done masturbating to you masturbating...

Other than that, I laughed harder than I needed to at that last statement before the credits... *sighs* Brains...

Really? Could have fooled me.

OT:I love it when devs try to justify cheap titillation with in-lore reasons. It's like they're saying there is a power greater than them who controls what gets put in the game and what doesn't;

"And lo', the Asian pubescent girls will be clad in thin, white garments, so that they may be showered with the ghostly ectoplasm."

"B-but, Lord, that wouldn't fit with the theme or atmosphere..."

"Quiet, you prude!"

Actually, I forgot about publishers.

Ugh, ya know, I fucking love this series. Well, except that crappy 3DS game that had the potential to be cool but just wasn't. Fatal Frame is about the only horror franchise that effectively scares me - even Silent Hill can't make that claim. Well, sometimes they can. That new Pachinko machine looks terrifying as fuck. Fuck Konami, by the way.

I guess it's all in the different things that people find scary. I don't believe in ghosts whatsoever, but maybe that's what makes this whole series so scary to me. That and it doesn't always rely (or didn't as much) on Jump Scares. We never got the 4th one, which still makes me sad to this day. Sure, we got this one, but, and I'm really surprised Yahtzee didn't mention this, the game can only be bought digitally. There are no physical copies available and the game is around 16 GB. That's seriously HALF the Wii U's space, and actually more when you consider all the space updates take. Hell, those poor souls with the 8 GB drive can't even play it at all.

So basically I'd have to go out and buy a new flash drive/SD card just to buy this $49.99 game. Thanks for the heads up that it's shit, Yahtzee. Given that you confessed a love of past Fatal Frame games and other horror games in general, I shall take you at your opinion and just never play this one.

Bleh. The industry claims that horror games don't sell anymore, but they're generally not funding them very well, so it's like they're setting them up for failure. I mean, look at Bloodbourne! That's a horror game if I ever saw one, and it's sold like crazy. And instead of Remedy working on Alan Wake 2, we're getting another 'bang-bang-shooty' game.
Quantum Break looks really interesting though, I think it will be very different from most shooters. So I will definitely buy it.
Certainly, Bloodbourne gets 'classified' as an action/adventure game. I'd also accept it being an RPG, given it's focus on level progression and item upgrading. But still, that's sort of my point - Bloodbourne has many of the same elements of any horror game I've ever played. The difference is that people feel very differently about what 'horror' actually means.

I don't doubt that Quantum Break will be good; after all, Remedy cut their teeth on games like Max Payne, so I'm sure it will be great and I'm also sure that I'll likely enjoy it as well, because I love the studio and all of their work. But the point I am making is that AAA developers don't trust the horror genre itself and have given up on it almost entirely, which to me, is baffling.

To answer your question, the Fatal Frame camera is a shitty, old fashioned, ten pound albatross that uses rolls of film and eldritch forces that should not be meddled with. This is not something you want to put in a flashlight or else you will end up completely ruining a slumber party further down the road.

I for one rather fondly remember Pirates of Black Water. Shame it didn't really have an ending though.

Aside from showing genitals (vaginas are frowned upon in particular) there's nothing illegal about making porn games in Japan. There's a whole industry around it. Mostly, it's dating sims that reward players with sex scenes. Visual/sound novels are common, too. Fun fact: while a big part of this industry caters to men, there are erotic games for women as well.

Console companies (or atleast most of them) do not want that level of sexual content on their systems, so it's very much a PC genre. Some 'eroge' (as they are called) become quite popular, though, so developers sometimes create an 'all ages' version (basically the original game but without the sex scenes) to a console or handheld.

What else... Oh yeah, publishers such as JAST USA and Manga Gamer specialise in bringing Japanese erotic games over to the west. They're not in the habit of censoring explicit scenes, so if you want, you can buy yourself some translated erotic Japanese games right now.

Oh, don't worry, I know. Steam's all to eager to show me the new wares.
Steam's pretty tame, though. The stuff on there is all toned down to M-rating, often by covering things up with, er, steam. If you want the truly steamy version - the one without steam - you have to look outside of Steam.
