Actually, this leaves me a tad confused. Wasn't Cronos brain-dead and dragging an entire castle of deathtraps on his back in the first game? Zeus did him a number in even REAL mythology, so...who cured his brainectomy?

As for my thoughts on the game overall, I'm kind of annoyed that we're still dealing with Zeus here. When I saw the preview for this game, I was hoping that Kratos pissed off a whole 'nother pantheon or even riled a creation god or two. (Remember, before the gods and titans were things like...Gaia and Chaos. Can you imagine dealing with something like that?)

this is EASILY the best review, simply because he took EVERY LAST THING ive said about GoW3, and said it himself

and because his opinion is somehow more valid than mine, i can now point to this review when fanboys rage at me for being a 360 fanboy (except im wii/pc, oops)

his voice was really slow on this one though

I still want to know why God of War II exits, nevermind III, because God of War (that is the first one, for those that can't figure out that the lack of an arbitrary number on the end of the title means the first one) ended with a rather solid ending with no leftover hanging plot threads (that I could see). WTF?
money, duh

what baffles me about the whole deal is that the glaring problems i (and apparently yahtzee) see, are pluses to reviewers (who control a good bit of influence in the core market) they call the story amazing, and the gameplay fresh. this can only make things worse, as we are almost guaranteed (by sales and critical reception) to have even more nonsensical god of war games on the way. whichs means more of the same gameplay, and more story that totally makes no sense (oh, i cant wait to see how they stretch out the GoW 3 ending to make a fourth, fifth, and sixth game!)

at least when a game like zelda comes out (almost always similar gameplay, storyline, etc) it doesnt try to follow along tied to a previous tale, even the only true sequel in zelda history had NOTHING to do with the original story, it was just the return of the same main character. I think if you MUST make more god of war, please, please, do not tie them together, tell us another tale.

I'm starting to grow weary of all the hate... I understand you want to please your fans, but now you're just nitpicking! You can't complain that a game has TOO MUCH variety... Ah well.
well you can actualy I mean how would you like it if in modern warfare 3 you had to cook a meal cooking mama style the shoot some guys and then adopt a pupy and spend half the game playing with it.

I dont know how many other ppl notice it but good god you are highly inteligent. You know exactly what pictures and items you use in your videos to show what you are saying lol. like for puzzle, you used a Rubix cube. This show I can always use to find out whether or not I will buy a game or not. I went against this show once and will regret it forever. I bought Dead space and beat it in 9 hrs on its hardest setting. The game was a fluke in my opinion and not worth the 60 bucks I spent on it. I will never go against this show again after that experience lol

That's the opposite of variety, strict linearity - there's a fine line.

Great review of GoW 3, hits the nail on the head about the franchise.

I must say, I recently was introduced to Yahtzee, and not to sound like a fanboi (I hate that spelling and word), which I know I'll hear, but I really LOVE his reviews. The fact that he doesn't sugar coat anything is refreshing. Even in all the "epic" games that are worth buying, which he'll mention in one way or another, he'll make sure you know all about the shit parts of them!

One of my recent addictions is Mass Effect 1 and 2 and Dragon Age. Those reviews had me rolling, especially the DA one. As much as I love the ME games, I couldn't help but laugh hysterically at Yahtzee's reviews of them. Fantastic stuff.

But ever since I've been introduced, I've been addicted, and went and watch every one of his reviews, just because I can't get enough of his humor. Some might call that shallow, but hey... btw this is NOT to meant to be an ass kissing session or anything, just sharing how much I enjoy his videos and looking forward to catching them weekly now after playing catch up. Can't wait.

Hey Yahtzee (sorry if I spelled it wrong) what is your opinion on Independent video games, and if it's in the middle of horrible and okay, depending on the game, then what's your opinion on how Independent games should be? What is your favorite Indy video game?
Save your breath, gal. Yahtzee never answers on the forums. Except maybe on Extra Punctuation.

The WTF is not so justified cause the 1st God Of War had a secret ending.

Hint: this video is a major spoiler for anyone who hasn't played God Of War I and II.

So many comments on his voice!
...anyway, never played the series so this is kind of interesting to hear about.
Pretty funny too, but perhaps I need to play the series to get the subtleties...ha!

Every time he adds an erroneous and redundant 1 to the title of original games I want to slap him.

good stuff as usual :)
can't say I'm a big fan of GOW series, or the genre, but this was a pretty good critique of the good and bad parts of it. It's pretty funny to think that so many fans of the game tout its story as being one of the shining highlights. yeah right...

I am a fan and have been wondering about what happened with
the power of hope from pandora's box
since the very first game. So the story works very well for some. And for me, better than Uncharted 2.

Is it just me or did the story in GOW3 get a bit lazy near the end? Anyway Great review.
SPOILERS! There wasn't really an ending, that's what bothered me. All gods seemed to be dead, except aphrodite. Tbh, I was suprised Yahtzee didn't mention the parts involving having sex with aphrodite. SPOILERS!
