How do you think Yahtzee chooses whether to use an Imp sprite or a "Human" image?

It probably has to do with what the thing is. Monsters are normally Imps, and the controlled character is Human.

I know he sometimes mixes in imps as humans, but I think it's the sillyness. Also, most of the time I think he makes women imps because of the whole "monster" thing, it's a joke. Imps are also used more often than not in parodies of situations

That or he roles the dice for anything other than a humanoid and a foe.

Imps = Monsters and Enemies

Humans = Main Characters
I'll go with this one. Though, sometimes I see he's using imps as characters (like Mages 'n Knights 'n shit). Oh, and he used the imps to 'personalize' the Manga-lovers I believe.

He... Just chooses? I don't think it's something which keeps him awake at night.

He used an imp for one of the protagonists in Left 4 Dead, though.
I'm pretty sure that they represent anything that is annoying, be it a good guy, bad guy, or inanimate object.

Agreed. Seems to be the general idea. The dog in Fable II, many of the annoying tack-on women love-interests, enemies (big or small), and people he doesn't like.

Not always, the little sisters were imps in the Bioshock reviews.

It usually depends on whether there's a lot of them, check it out. If there's more than one, 9 out of 10 times it's depicted as an imp.

In the end credits they can be anything, usually something that tries to kill yahtzee or is in aanother way annoying to him.
