The more I think about it the more I'm happy with my "Noahs Arcade presents Waynes World" analogy. Ropey intro that had a certain charm gets replaced by overly flashy and produced intro that just leaves everyone staring at the screen in a WTF moment. Suits + Cult thing = Sucktastic.

In other news, if 30 seconds is allowed under fair use, every Napalm Death song is free

The old intro/music bits really went with the casual setting of Yahtzee sitting on a couch with his laptop, assembling reviews, oh here's some music I like, I'll throw that in the intro! Gave the whole thing a delightfully amateurish, rough-hewn feel (fictitious as that idea may be, since this is a commercial site and of course there's lots of editing and polish and blah blah blah), helped give it a neat identity, made it stand out.

The new music and intro don't stand out - they resemble lots of other video reviews out there. It's like throwing away Apple's iconic logo and replacing it with some bland modern typeface.

If it was done for anticipated legal reasons, then fine, I'll cry into my beer, but you guys can come up with something better than this.

How the fuck has he "sold out"? It's an original piece created just for ZP, it's not like it's a Disturbed song with a note to go buy their new album or any such shit.

Crappy thrash rock, original or not, is still crappy. The screeching guitar made me think of the Burnout review, which he mocked as something to play right before playing a rock guitar solo, so yeah, I did think "sell out" just a little. The pirated music gave it the anarchic vibe that I love about ZP.

A pretty OK review... I dunno but something seemed a bit off from your others. Maybe it was lack of scathing hatred found in other videos?
Can't say I really fancy the new intro and outro, but I doubt anything I say on a thread will do a thing about that. I will miss the old musical selection. R.I.P.

That's odd, because I enjoyed this review more than any I've seen to date. The others have all been hugely enjoyable, but this is the first that had me laughing out loud throughout - great stuff.

Ah well, the review itself was funny. I've personally never understood the love so many people have for the Lego games, probably because as a child my family was too poor to afford the still monstrously overpriced Lego sets. I played a demo of the most recent Lego-themed Star Wars game, and while it was fun for about the five minutes it lasted, I just can't imagine playing through TWO movie trilogies worth of it.

Loved the review, as usual. What took it from "above average" to "best EVER!" for me was the Deep Space Nine crack at the end. The review almost makes me want to try Lego Indy, even though I'm incapable of playing anything more complicated than Tetris.

I empathize with the not wanting to rip off copyrighted music anymore thing but still; I really liked the two music selections and always looked forward to hearing them. Theres just something about hearing 'Bugs' by Pearl Jam in a videogame review that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. Negative funny points for the little live, no-voice bit at the end. Kinda pointless but who the hell am I to complain about getting extra free stuff?

Anyway, good stuff as always.

I'm not sure about the new intro, either, but fuck it. "South Park" stopped killing Kenny when that got old and the Angry Video Game Nerd stopped saying "cocka-dookie" when he realized that was just childish.

Oh wait. No he didn't. But fact is, shit changes depending on your diet, so we can deal.

That all said, this one didn't make me laugh. Not sure why, but they can't all be winners, now can they? No they can't. Much like the Indiana Jones series itself. I haven't seen the new one, but most have put it above Temple of Doom. But then, so is a turd and mayo sandwich.

I'm not sure what the deal is with the Short Round hate. I can see disliking Willie, the screeching bimp that she is, but Short Round? Granted he's an Asian stereotype, but set in an era when such stereotypes would be more likely to be true. maybe I just liked the Goonies too much and liked seeing Jonathan Ke Quan on the screen more than most people.

All things considered, this game sounds like it'd be right up my alley. Not that I have the brain of a child, but because of the forgiving nature implied with being able to kill your friends. Good lord, I can't tell you how much fun that sounds like. And the decidedly juvenile platforming and puzzles are liable to be easy enough for my decidedly short attention span and patience for such things. I really could not deal with a puzzle that would actually challenge me at this point. Not unless the answer is multiple choice and the third option is something off-color, like "suck my balls."

Yeah, it was created specifically for ZP. I'm not sure if it would be appropriate to comment beyond that, so I won't.

I appreciate the feedback either way. I know it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, and the ZP crowd is nothing if not vocal about their opinions. I'm just happy that a decent percentage of posters likes it. If I hit 50% I figure I'm doing alright.

So, let's start a serious discussion for a change (flame war, flame war !!!)...

How can some people say that Skull is better than Temple ? Temple is the worst of the originals, granted, but still was fun in a naive kind of way... and some of the scenes are really great (mine carts, bridge, banquet) and belong to Indy's myth. (Plot spoilers ahead if you care).

I didn't hate Skull, but it could have been a much better movie (basically they could have taken Fate of Atlantis script... ANY of the three paths would have been better). The story is the main offender, really, the whole aliens/skulls thing is confusing even though there is much more plot exposition than the previous movies, and the sci-fi twist feels really out of place in the context of the series. The interplay between Mutt and Indy is not bad, but the whole "Indy has a son" thing felt tacked on.

Most of all, WTF, in the second part it became sort of a school/family trip, I mean FIVE good guys? It has always been Indy vs. the World, and it really felt dispersive. Besides, no one of the others really did anything for me, at least you can HATE Short Round and Willie... Marion had that idiot stupefied smile all the time, and the bitching with Indy lacked the spark of Raiders big time. I really think was a mistake bringing her back.

Good points : good chasing scenes, good setting and villains (I was skeptic about the "evil commies", but in the end they were not so bad), and Harrison Ford delivered as usual.

I miss the music at the beginning and end as well. I thought they added a nice touch of humor and, strangely, a sense of individuality rarely seen on the internet. None the less, very funny and enjoyable.

I really liked this review, but is it just me or is Yahtzee encountering something of a dry spell? Of all the games, he just had to review Lego Indiana Jones? I'm not complaining, I'm just curious, or does the idea of trying to play Guitar Hero: On Tour make him cringe?

I liked the review, didn't think much of the lego game versions of star wars and indiana jones until I saw the star wars retrospective in gametrailers, they certainly looked humorous and fun for a few hours of gaming. Might give it a try soon since it looks like fun to break he nazis to pieces
I didn't like very much the new intro/end of the review, previously they had a 'personal' touch with each different song playing at beginning and end. Ahh well, can't have it all my way I guess.

What exactly is bad about the new music? Too heavy for you old ladies? jk, but I think it's great. You may be right about about how it's not exactly "fitting" of the tone of ZP, but it's not nearly as bad as metal music in Prince of Persia. And yes, it was clever how the chosen songs fit with the game being reviewed, but (in my opinion, anyway) alot of it was just shitty.
