No, but the Sloth Talisman reduces next to every boss fight to a trivial obstacle. It was hilarious making historical badasses and legendary monsters move at half speed while I danced around them and inflicted Discord on them with my elemental dual katana and kusarigama.RisenStorm said:Nioh isn't snapped in half by incredibly overpowered Greatshields.
Nioh wins by default.
I must say, I actually prefer this to Dark Souls. No matter how many times I died I never felt like it was a bullshit death (the Umi-bozu's arena notwithstanding) and combat was just so varied and fun I never got bored due to the insane combos and adrenaline rush I got out of it. The boss fights in particular are stellar. Level design isn't at grand I suppose, but not having to worry about interconnecting the entire world means they can focus on making the levels unique. It's also nice how a lot of them like Honnouji and Itsukushima are real-world locations and they bring them to life in stunning detail (seriously, I checked out Itsukushima's website and the design in Nioh was nearly a 1-1 recreation).
All in all, I find Nioh is the first game to use Dark Souls as a jumping off point but cut out stuff they felt didn't work, give it a different focus and setting, and then add their own innovations to give it an identity of its own. Beat the game, working on NG+, and eagerly awaiting the DLC.
