Republique has a very French looking spelling to it to me. Were any of the characters in this game French? Or is it just a desperate attempt to make a boring and probably not all that applicable title seem cool?

Somebody is going to have to break the news to Yahtzee that his "you just had to endure an ad to watch this video" joke came on the same week when everyone was given premium membership for reasons not yet entirely clear. So many of us didn't have to endure an ad.

Maybe he was referring to certain porn sites... :p

OT: So... It's a "3/5 Too much expectations" kind of game? I would say that life is strange like that, but I fear the hitman would get me...

Other than that, "ladybird"? Just because they can fly does not mean it's not an aviary bug that can metaphorically give you good luck...

I assumed it was because I'd hit the seven year mark since I'd registered. Or because they'd caught me complaining about the bandwidth-sucking full-video banner ads and the horribly broken attempt at crowbarring Flash-based ads into an HTML5-based player or the mandatory "captchas" that involve parroting a corporate slogan like something cyberpunk dystopia writers are probably all smacking their heads wishing they'd thought of first, and figured if I stopped seeing those things, I'd stop talking about them, if only because I couldn't be totally sure they were still there for other people.

But I guess not?

A review of a cyberpunk stealth-action game using security cameras with nary a mention of WATCH_DOGS. Too easy, I guess. The name also brought to mind this old politics sim named Republic: The Revolution.

Yeah, that was some odd timing on Yahtzee's part. I also noticed my profile pic changed; it used to be what should have been a GIF of Yahtzee clapping his hands and going "WONK!"

There was an allegedly French character and there's a bit where the main character speaks some French. Other than that it doesn't really do much of anything other than stave off a lawsuit from Plato's estate.

This game kind of reminds me of Broken Age in that it seems like the dev team had alot of good intial ideas for Episodes 1-3, then kinda burned out when they were making episodes 4 and 5, and hadn't quite thought through how they were going to resolve the plot until the last minute.

I'd be really into seeing more of these complete episodic reviews. I didn't have any interest in this game before, and now I have slightly more interest.

Yahtzee, one fact you might not have known of is that the developers set out to make a hardcore experience for a touchpad* audience in the making of this game, i.e. they were aiming primarily for the iPad users. Judging by your review you didn't play on a touchpad device, but I just wonder if this changes how you look on this game?

*or at least that's what they said at one point; it's possible they've changed their objective during the years of development.

It's still avaiable for the smartphone users, however something did change as there's also a PS4 version available.

it certainly has its ups and downs but still an interesting game never the less. at least its one of these games you dont have to worry about dying when you get spotted and is a switch from all these dark themed games.
what was rather aggravating that it took them nearly 8 months to release epi 4. by that time i have pretty much forgotten what has happened before because of that huge gab. and when finally epi 5 came out, i have realized that it was exactly a year since its release.
is it a great game? no but an interesting one i still can recommend for having something different.

I was more talking in terms of that their primary platform might have changed; that they continued to support the mobile platforms is a given.

Am I the only one who sees Yahtzee in the end credits as suddenly extremely startled as opposed to rubbing his eyes?

As for the game itself, I got nothin', I admittedly never even heard of it before now.
