I found the game really fun, the special stages really kicked my ass since there are no checkpoints and are often littered with instant-kill traps. Regardless, I still had a good time. Poochy is still adorable.

Purple?? That's crazy talk, man! CRAZY TALK!

Other than that, this was technically my first Yoshi game and even I thought it was weird that you don't really control the aiming unless the reticle just so happens to be stuck on the "shoot straight up" position...

Yeah, a D is technically a passing grade, but if you get too many in one year regardless of circumstances, your university often has the right to go "We're counting those as Fs instead, even though you actually passed, now REDO THEM".

Why yes, I AM in that situation and am now going to have to retake 2 courses, thus delaying my imminent graduation by an entire year because one of those classes (which is useless to me BTW) is only offered in the winter! >: (

Ugh, anyway, the takeaway form this video was basically "If you liked Yoshi's island, you'll probably like this one" which is all I was looking for anyway. Unfortunately, work is being very skittish about calling me in because the guy who send us the work are continually dragging their heels about it, so I'm not sure if buying a WiiU is a good idea, considering I have tuition to pay off. Ugh.

Man, Yahtzee's visuals of Yoshi in this one really...bother me. Like you can just imagine the poor dude gurgling and screaming the whole time. Very human centipede like.

I now wonder whether Yoshi looks like that as a ZP avatar because of the reference to mounting or because it was easier than using Yoshi or Velociraptor images.

I'm going to pass on this one. Mostly 'cause I think the idea of Nintendo redoing their IP with arts and crafts is kinda dumb.

I actually dig the whole arts 'n crafts angle with these recent games. It's the actual gameplay that leaves much to be desired, like Kirby's Rainbow Whatever. The claymation visuals are fucking rad, but then the gameplay only consists of you drawing twizzlers for Kirby to roll around on... Whoopy.

I did love Yoshi's Island, and maybe it was because I had the GBA remake but I never found baby Mario that annoying. It does make you want to get him back ASAP at least. My only question is, is this better than that other Yoshi's Island game for the 3DS, cause that one looked like it was made with a gun pointed at the developer's family.

Let's be honest here... Yoshi, for all his people eating, egg pooping ways, is NOT the most strange and terrifying thing within the Mario franchise... I refer of course, to the incomprehensible creature known only as Birdo:

And now I begin waiting for "Birdo's silk ribbons" to carry on the trend of Arts And Crafts Nintendo games...

Or if we want to go back to the past, Birdo's Cart Racing

I too have wondered why and how Yoshi squirts out eggs after eating his enemies.

I laughed at the raptor pics, especially the cut-up ones that were put back together wrong.

"You're out!", Yahtzee said to this game.

Can we make it a law in the future that Yahtzee is no longer allowed to review games that are released in the UK before the states until after we Americans get them? Also poor time time to review a Nintendo game the week Iwata died Yahtzee.

It just sounds like he's find trivial nitpicks again in what's basically an average platformer. Now come October, people will get the wrong idea and try it simply because Yahtzee didn't like it, which is why I get bitter at Nintendo reviews like this.
Given the several games that don't get released in Australia until a later date, or straight up get banned (Saints Row IV, Hatred) I think that ruling would be a bit unfair to Yahtzee.

Besides, most will likely watch these videos before they end up playing the game regardless of whether it's out or not. The difference this time is that the few who did play it before watching the video live in Europe/Australia instead of the U.S.

This site has an audience that are from quite a few places around the world so I don't see why North America should be the sole factor in choosing what games to review. There are many games that are delayed for the EU, should all reviews be held back until they get their release as well?

Personally, I believe that the death of a person related to a game shouldn't stop the game from being reviewed or critiqued.

I'm not sure if I understand you here. With the context of the first part and having Yahtzee review a game when NA gets it, do you think less people would get the wrong idea if he released it after the NA release date?

The nitpick part is a tough thing, he critiques a game a week so if the game he plays is an average game where he can only list the things that bugged him, should he just not release a ZP that week? ZP isn't the only thing he does so it seems like it's asking a bit much for him to switch to something else after playing an average game through. Besides, as I recall, the game he chooses to critique is completely up to him so ultimately, he'll do whatever catches his fancy.

No, because that sounds idiotic and makes absolutely no sense. o.o Especially considering that Europe and Australia almost always gets game releases late.

Same here. I'd LIKE to watch this video, but it's not streaming fast enough. Normally I'd pause and wait for it to load a bit, but...
