My most anticipated title this year. Anyone else picking it up? And if so, what are you thoughts on how it can and should proceed. Also, add in your thoughts on the series so far.

Never even heard of it. What kind of game is it? What about it do you like? Why are you looking forward to a new installment?

Not really. it just looks like any other point and click adventure game (basically non game). not very interesting

I can explain the series, but it wasn't my intent, I was reaching out to people already familiar really.

Surprised you have never heard of it though.

Because it isn't Doom, I should think :p

OT: At first I thought this was a topic about how you don't have time to play games. Honestly never heard of this title before. Not a huge fan of the genre besides a select few Telltale games. Wasn't a PC gamer during the golden age of point-and-click.

Little means there is some, therefore a game.

Why am I answering B-Cell? Who knows.

To be fair, while it stays out of the visual novel genre, it gained quite a cult status popularity with the DS boom along with games such as last window and such.

999 has such a unique story, and it does some extremely clever things with its narrative and the replay mechanic that you cant deny that it stands out.

I am aware :) The thing is, they are no longer VNs once they step out of solely dialogue choices.

I would like to discuss the series more though :'(

You hate on a lot of shit, with no real merits.

You do realize that Call of Duty and other FPS's are nothing but point and click games right? Point you gun, click, point your gun somewhere else, click. Those stupid sniper games you like? Guess what? Point and clicks bro!

When I saw that this thread had 13 replies so far I thought there was a discussion about the actual game instead of people saying they aren't interested in it or never heard of it. :|

Anyway, yes, I will be picking it up. Loved the previous two Zero Escape games. I'm hoping this will close the whole series, I don't expect there to be a forth instalment.

Do I need to have played the previous two games in the series to understand what's going on, or is it like Final Fantasy in that each game in the series is stand-alone and unrelated.
You probably do, but I don't see it as a problem because 999 and VLR are both fantastic and have their own identity.

I'm a new fan to the franchise (I only got both 999 and VLR at Christmas) but after completing both of them - Virtue's Last Reward the day before the first trailer for ZTD came out - by god am I excited for Zero Time Dilemma.

Highly recommend both 999 and VLR. Both are wonderful in ways I don't want to say to much about lest I spoil anything.

If you don't even know what Zero Time Dilemma is... it probably isn't the game for you.

(Because that means you never played 999 or VLR, and since ZTD seems like it's going to be the spoiler-ific conclusion to the trilogy...)

I never played the second game. I like 999 but I heard that just about everyone in the second game was a dickhead, something that kind of turned me off buying it. The first game had a flawed but, for the most part, understandable cast. The only people that stabbed others in the back were bad guys. So I'm not sure if I want to buy this one. I'll have to wait to see if the second game is needed/the cast is more likable this time.

The cast of Virtues Last Reward isn't really dickish. There is only one person who will vote against you "just because". Others are either reacting to YOU being a dick before or develop pretty damn good reasons to do so. I mean, it's a game that operates on a Prisoners Dilemma, for goodness sake. I don't want to spoil things though.

Just play it. The story is worth it.

OT: I will buy it no matter the circumstances. However, I am a bit wary of it becoming more of a Point and Click adventure with (possibly) random outcomes instead of being a Visual Novel like previous games.

I really loved 999 and Virtues Last Reward, so I'll most likely pick it up.

If you genuinely think the gameplay in an FPS can be reduced to "its just point and click, bro" - I have no words for you.

OT: Nope, not interested. I need a lot more interactivity in my games. There needs to be a good mix of action and strategy for a game to appeal to me. I can appreciate a good story, but if I only have the illusion of control, I'd much rather just watch a play through of the game on YouTube. I usually can experience the best parts of a game like this one through a video instead of having to slog through the barebones gameplay.
